DS loves construction trucks...cement trucks, diggers, bucket trucks, whatever (am getting quite the education here). Any nice sets you love? Or puzzles? Anythng else that is construction related?

I don't want anything too large as space is an issue.

TIA

M&D has wooden construction jigsaw puzzles that are 4 to a box that are really nice. Each is 12 pieces.

DS has a Tonka dump truck and a CAT loader from Target that he enjoys. There also are Tonka Jr. vehicles that are smaller (maybe 5").

I have a slightly different one (emergency vehicles) that I love.

We've been happy with the Plan Toys set we have. DS got the "Construction City Special" set for his second birthday. http://tinyurl.com/bhhnd It came with everything we need. They are very tiny like matchbox cars or Thomas trains. He also got the basic roadway which is also compatible with wooden train tracks though that was really not necassary. http://tinyurl.com/c6e6v

Otherwise DS loooves truck books. It's really scary how he knows the correct term for every truck- excavator, digger, plow etc. Here are a couple that are on his amazon wish list.

Looks like Heirloom Toys has some construction related things. They have a sale right now, but free shipping only for orders over $100. Although shipping for less than $100 is a flat $5. If I had the space, and Kaya was into vehicles (she's still too young, I think), this first one that shows up when you do a search for "construction" would be very cool. But otherwise, there are other things like wooden vehicles:

ETA: actually do a search for "truck" and you'll have better luck.

Oh, and some of these things seem pricey, but they also look like they'd be really good quality. I will say that the CS has already been excellent and I've just placed my order this morning (I gave in and got a LT + some puzzles). I've already gotten 3 e-mails from them about questions and such.

Thanks all for the awesome ideas. We'll have to put them on our Xmas list.

We have been big on construction here for awhile. One of our favorite books is My Big Truck Book. We also have a few puzzles from M&D that we love.

As far as toys, we have a set of construction vehicles from Target I got last Christmas that are sized perfectly for carrying around. They are knockoffs of the Plan City set. FWIW, my sister has the Plan City set and they have not held up well. They come apart easily, so if you have curious child, that may be an issue.

Next size up we have several of these from Tonka Jr. Still a great size for carrying around.

Then, bigger than that, we have a few of the Rugged Riggz trucks:

Then, even bigger than that, we have for outside play the metal Tonka trucks:

If you like wood trucks, www.atoygarden.com has a good selection that I am lusting after, but it would just be too cost prohibitive for us to have wood in this area!

Ravensburger has some frame puzzles with a construction theme. Not sure where I got ours, but you can search online for them. For trucks, Target has a large selection of various construction trucks. There are some John Deere ones at Target that are a little bigger and pretty detailed, though they don't have all the different trucks. TRU has an inexpensive set with most of the different trucks.

As for other things, Gymboree has a construction truck line that has been on sale recently. DS is thrilled with his shirts and sweaters from there. And it isn't too hard to find pajamas with construction trucks on them (try Carters for starters).

We have a bunch of the Rugged Riggz. They are a good deal for the price and DS really likes them.

Is there a coupon code for the 20% off at A Toy Garden?
