Wooden parking garage and roadway recommendations?

I like the Plan City parking garage and roadway system but have been hesitant to get it for DS due to the mixed reviews that I've read here on the boards.

Do anyone know of someone else that makes something like this?

And for those who have said that the Plan City ones have not held up well, how have they not held up well? What kind of things break?

We had have the Plan City parking garage and deluxe roadway set since last Christmas. It is one of our best toys and has held up very well. I can't tell you how many times I found Alex sitting on top of the garage as a baby having climbed up on it (and it was stored on the train table). We are actually adding quite a bit to it this Christmas (vehicles, fire station, emergency station, and crane).

The only problem that I know of personally is with the individual construction vehicles. The wheels, or thread I guess would be the technical term, comes off very easily as do some of the other parts. My sister had a set and it did not hold up well. I don't know if we would have had the same problems as my kids just don't seem inclined to take things apart!

We have the Plan Toys basic roadway and it has held up well. It is also compatible with wooden train tracks.

We have the Plan City Parking Garage and a couple of the roadway sets. We've had ours for about 3 years. We haven't had any problems with ours and it is very much a loved toy! We are adding a bunch of the add-ons to it this year (crane, fire station, police station, etc).

We're giving our kids a whole bunch of the Plan City stuff for Hanukkah this year. I think we'll use it on the train table (since they are building train layouts on the rug). We ordered through Kidsurplus.com and got the order quickly. At least through the boxes, the stuff looks nicely made. I love the look, and I would have fun playing with it. : ) I can report back after a few months' use.

I ordered the Deluxe Roadway for my DS. It's really cute. We haven't tried it yet, but I know he's going to love it. I got mine from Creativebrains. They have really good customer service.
I'm thinking of getting the garage, so I'm glad to read so many reviews of it here.
