View Full Version : What do you think about a chalkboard table?

I'm considering redoing my DD's table set, which she now says is "boring" (such is life with a 4 year old, LOL) and painting the middle with chalkboard paint, leaving about a 3" border around it. That way, she can draw on the table, we could do cute chalk "placemats" and things if she eats a snack there, etc. And if I need to protect the chalkboard surface, it's easy to cover it with oilcloth or something.

It seems like a fun idea to me, but I wonder if it's worth doing. Do you think your child would use something like this?

I think it would be fun. I considered doing it, but then decided against it, mainly because she uses her table a lot for puzzles and things, and I don't want chalk on the bottom of all her toys. Also, we ended up deciding to get an easel for Chanukah/Christmas.

We have a chalkboard table from Babystyle. Brig uses it mostly for non-chalk play, but draws on it occasionally. It's not as messy as I imagined it would be.
