I do this every year - begin planning Christmas purchases (previously for DH and other family members, now main focus is our kids) very early (Sept/Oct), finish before December, and then begin having second thoughts about some purchases, see new ones I like better, and find several I want to add to the "pile".

So I need last help with the following items that I've decided we MUST have (or at least need to try as hard as I can to get) - if you've seen any of these in especially nice versions, or for good prices, etc anywhere I'd love to know!

**Rocking horse (prefer plush, under $50, or if hard, must have back protector thing so they dont slide off LOL)

**Race car roll over thingy - like this:
http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com/itemdy00.asp?CATEGORY=&ITN=H+3+520X&T1=H+3+520X&QTY=1&PageNo=1&GEN1=&SKW=race+car&product.x=72&product.y=62

**Toy shopping cart (prefer wood or plastic, although the PBK metal one is nice) Under $30 if possible

**play ribbons play silks, etc - where is the best place to go for these?

I've done some searches here, but am runnning out of time! LOL

hi ronda,

I saw a rocking Moose at IKEA recently that was quite nice. I think it was around $34 but no protector and not plush, but cute. Most of the plush ones in local stores seem quite $$$.

Have heard great things about Juliet (jec) playsilks. I am sure someone else will be able to give more info.

ps. are you still at the same email? I emailed you a while back. not sure if you got it?

Does it have to be a horse? We got DS the Mamas and Papas caterpiller last year and it's still a big hit. The back comes up pretty high so my 9 month old nephew can ride it without falling off (with an adult right there of course). http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/seattlemom25/5745.jpg

I am glad to hear that your DS and DN both like this rocker. We are giving it to DS(10 months old) for xmas. I was actually contemplating returning it b/c I was afraid that it would just be a space hog and not get much use.

I have done the same thing. I just ordered my second (and hopefully last) round of Christmas presents yesterday!

Unfortunately, most of what I was hoping to show you is already out of stock! But maybe if you like them you can find them somewhere else.

Rocking Horse -

Rainbow Rollers -

With respect to playsilks, everyone here really likes bumbershootbaby. Unfortunately she is currently out of stock of what I wanted to order, so I ended up ordering from Fairy Cove -

http://www.fairycove.com/store/wsdefault.asp?Sub=46

I found one review and it was good. It is a pretty good price for the number of silks.

The absolute best buy (other than making your owm) is at atoygarden.com.

http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1114

This site has also received good reviews. Of course, you can always buy 1 or 2, and not an entire set.

ETA:

I just found this, it looks like the same one I posted from Magic Cabin:

Hi Angie!

I love that caterpillar! But my son only says a few words and one of those is "horseeeee horseeee" LOL He loves all our toy horses, stuffed horses, etc so ideally I do want a horse. Plus I want this to be for my 3 year old too so not too small :)

Thanks though it is super cute!

Not sure who has the best price, but we got DS's play ribbon (on a stick ala rhythmic gymnastics type of thing) at Cost Plus World Market. I know they aren't everywhere though. Magic Cabin also sells them for around $8 I believe. He loves that thing :)

Ditto to bumbershootbaby if what you want is in stock.

I would suggest the Fisher Price shopping cart. I think I suggested it under another thread. I like it because it is a great price and comes with food, a take off basket and seat for baby doll converts to a baby doll booster seat.

This rocking horse is at my DD school and all of the kids love it and it has a back. It is little tykes and they make other versions which are cuter.

Hope this isn't too late.

A couple of years ago, we got a nice plush rocking horse at Sam's Club before the holidays for about $34. We ended up selling it before moving since DS's legs were too long for it by the time he was really into playing with it (at age 2.5), but he is quite tall!

For a toy shopping cart, you can't go wrong with the Little Tykes version. It is all over, including at TRU. Runs about $25.

We got a play ribbon at a local store called Learning Express. Discount School Supply is good, too, but I'm not sure if you could get it before next weekend. Looks like there are 12 Learning Express stores in Texas:

I was going to suggest the Sam's club one, as well. We got it before DS was born and it is adorable and has held up very well. It also makes galloping and whinneying sounds. I've seen similar ones at Walmart and (oddly enough) our local grocery store (King Soopers not sure whether they or their affiliates are by you but just in case anyone else is looking).

Thanks Heather! I like the Fisher Price one! I will look when I go to Walmart on Monday. I can't ever find those plastic LT rocking horses anymore - I've looked b/c a friend of ours has one. My DS would love that but my DD is probably too big...
