View Full Version : Is there a brand of changing pad cover that doesn't suck?

We have a contoured changing pad on top of a dresser. We bought a Springmaid brand terry cover for it at BRU and it shrank a lot and also the elastic started coming loose around the edge after the 1st or 2nd washing. We abandoned it and just used the pad solo. Now however, part of the pad has started cracking open - the whole product is so awful (pad is also Springmaid I think...it's from BRU)! So I am considering buying a new changing pad and possibly new covers for it. Any advice?

We've been using the same Simmons pad with 2 terry covers that we've alternated for over 2.5 years, and they've all held up great. There are a couple of pulls on the terry, but it looks fine. And yes, I still use it daily with my almost pre-schooler. Weird, I know!

We just put a folded receiving blanket on the pad for changes. It's so much easier to put on and off.

I have LOVED the PBK covers. They are kind of fleecy and soft. I have 21 mo twins so they have had a TON of use/washing and look as good as the day I bought them.

Another vote for the Pottery Barn Kids Chamois changing pad covers. They are awesome and don't get pilly or yucky. We have one and it still looks exactly like it did the very first day I got it. I have a few of the terry ones and they are gross-- the colors are all faded and they got rough fast. I'd get 2 PB ones so when one gets dirty you have another to use while one is in the wash. They're pricey at $19 each, but they'll definately last you a long time. I highly recommend their chamois crib sheets, over FleeceBaby sheets, as well.

Yep, we have a PBK changing pad and 3 of their chamois covers and I adore them. They are so soft, don't shrink or stretch out, don't get pilly or anything. They also seem to wash clean from any 'accidents' very easily. I recommend them often!

I used the Simmons Terry with DS, now almost 4, and was fine with them, they did fade some and aren't the softest I guess.

However, with DS I purchased the PBK chamois one mentioned above and I have to say it is just SO much better! I love to give this as a shower gift! It's so soft and stays that way. It really washes well. Definitely worth the $, they have added more color options too.

I bought a velour one from a WAHM who isn't making them anymore, but a little birdie has told me that one of our moms here may be selling her own style of velour changing table covers soon. It is wonderful - washes beautifully, looks like new after over a year of use (we still use the changing table for DS), and is sooooo soft. I also have a PBK chamois cover to try.

Another vote for the PBK chamois cover. We have both the chamois and the terry and the chamois is great!

Another vote for Simmons - I got ours at Burlington Coat Factory. I always keep a lap pad on it, too, just in case of... ah... spillage. :)
