View Full Version : I need help finding a backup lovey!

Carrie seems to (finally) have decided on a soft doll made by Carter's that's been in her crib for months as her comfort object. Which is great - I can put her down awake, tuck her in with her doll and leave her room, and she'll go to sleep on her own!

The bad part is, that (of course) I only have one. And it's in desperate need of a good washing because Carrie recently had a very runny nose. I can probably manage to put it in the wash first thing in the morning and have it dried by naptime, but I'd dearly love to find a second so I could rotate them regularly.

Does anyone know of any good sources for older stuffed toys like this? It was given to Carrie about a year ago, and I remember seeing it in BRU around that time but haven't seen them since. It's a pink Carter's soft doll, no rattle, brown eyes, wearing a hat but with several pieces of brown yarn hair sticking out the front, and the style number is 6161. I can't find anything remotely like it on ebay, which was my first - and only - thought about where to look.

Thanks!
Sarah :)

My mom bought my DD the same one last year. We received another one from my little niece, so we opted to leave the Carter one at "Nanny's" house. :) The one my niece bought her is very similar to our Carter one from BRUS, but it came from Walmart! I have continued to see them "hanging" in the baby dept.

We have one that looks exactly like that, but ours has a rattle inside. Someone got it for DD as a gift, but I know it came from Target as it has the Carter's Just One Year tag. Maybe you could look there if you can't find the non-rattle kind elsewhere?

Have you tried calling a Carter's outlet/factory store? We have a doll from there. It seems a bit different from yours, but we got ours almost 2 years ago and I still see them there. Good luck in the search!

FWIW, DD adds to her lovey stash nearly weekly. x( So, hopefully, if you can't find extras of that one, you can just introduce Carrie to another pal. We got some back-ups of primary lovey here: http://www.plushfriends.com/

Now that's something I didn't think about! Maybe before I go to all the trouble of finding something identical, I'll see if she'll go to bed with a different lovey entirely. Now I just need to find something else in her stash that doesn't rattle or play music...

Thanks for all the replies!

LOL, isn't that just like a toddler! I was outwitted in that Kaya was able to tell them apart. But yesterday and the day before, she shocked me when she skipped her nap in her crib and when we went to get her, she was holding all three and saying, "Lambies! 3 Lambies! 1, 2, 3!"

This happened with both of my boys! LOL. Only that DS1 was ok with alternative combinations (he didn't find out that we were rotating the bears until he was older than 3): 2 would be ok, one would do as well. Though he did prefer to sleep with all 3 of them.

It's a totally different story with DS2. He actually can tell the differences between his 2 BEARS. They look exactly the same to us! How freaky is that? And he now only wants the specific one. SO at bedtime we are often looking aorund the house for the "Right Bear."

If yours is this one with rattle inside, then I saw it at Sears.com the other day when I did a search after reading your post. But it says Out of Stock. Good luck on your search. I know how frustrating it is!
