I'm thinking of the type of toys that are pulled on strings, or can also be rolled along the ground by hand. I find these appealling, but do babies enjoy them?

My son doesn't care for his pull toys at all, but he adores his corn popper. I also read in one of Burton White's books his observation that pull toys were not nearely as popular as push toys with toddlers.

DC like their pull toys a lot and plays with them every day, but not until they were about 18 months or so even though they started walking at 10 months. They were interested in the push toys before the pull toys. Their favorite is a wooden one with three different whistles by Holgate, similar to this model called Calliope (about halfway down the page):

They also like one by Haba, a green frog whose mouth flaps open and shut as they pull and makes a soft clicking sound. Sorry I can't seem to find it online. Ours was a gift from my cousin in Germany.

DD got this one when she was older & loved it! She still plays with it & we are on our third one because it's gotten a lot of abuse.

DD, 15 months, can't get enough of pull toys. Of course she loves push toys too. If it moves, she likes it.
