UPDATE:

After getting it all out, I found a picture of the set I have:

The picture makes it look crowded, but I think they moved all the furniture to the front for the photo. It is not nearly that crowded and I have all the big furniture in it right now.

The quality seems very good, although I'm sure a Brio/Plan Toys would be better. The house itself is pretty sturdy, but does have a little give to it mainly due to the open design. My plan is to put it on the train table, since I wouldn't want the baby to be pulling up on it, IYKWIM. I am a bit worried about the balcony on front, so I may have DH remove for now.

The furniture is all pretty sturdy. There are lots of little detail parts which are very cute, but will probably be put away until they are older. There is plenty to leave out, though, so it's not empty by any means. I appear to have all the pieces, but since it was resale, I ended up with a few extras that I can't figure out, LOL!

In all, for $80 I think it is a good deal - I don't know that I would pay $200, though, maybe $100-125 would be my highest for this particular set, since for $150-200 you could get Ryan's Room or Plan Toys on sale and the house would probably be a bit sturdier.

-----

A local resale shop had a version of this set with all the furniture for $80:

I went ahead and bought it, but could always return it. The pieces seem sturdy, though not quite as nice as a Plan Toys set, then again, I priced those at $200+ for a comparable size set.

Is this a good deal?

Anyone have this set?

It looks adorable! I haven't priced Battat doll houses, but $80 for the house and furniture does sound good, especially if it is in good shape.

Check out www.creativebrainsonline.com if you want more comparisons, they are having a really good sale on some doll houses right now and they have a pretty big selection.

It is in excellent shape - I could find very little signs of wear on it. I haven't done a complete inventory (waiting for nap time) but it looks like all the pieces are there, plus a garage and car set that I don't see with the current one.

I had been looking at the Creative Brains sale stuff and liked the "Home is Where the Heart is House" by Ryan's Room, but even buying the house on clearance and furniture (between there and KidSurplus) was coming to $150+. Also, this is for a 2.5 yo, and several people had said the Ryan's room was a bit too enclosed and toddlers had trouble moving the furniture around. This one is open all the way around.

I have the same concerns about the dollhouses I have seen. My kids need a lot of room to manuveur. It is so tempting to buy now though with the sale at creativebrains! But I agree, it does still all add up.

I think that you probably got a great house, and a great buy! Please let me know how your dc likes it. My dd is just about 2 1/2 and I want to get her a house or tree house for her 3rd birthday, or maybe Easter.

Thanks! DS wanted to play with it all evening - he was really enthralled with the toilet and having the people go potty. Now if that would just translate into real life ;-)

I bought this same dollhouse for my Niece at a local consignment shop for $65! That was a good deal. My SIL and I figured out that the Ryan's Room Doll House pieces work just fine w/this doll house too.

She added some more outdoor/grill pieces, and some baby room pieces and it's so complete now. I must confess I played w/the dollhouse for hours before I gave it to my niece. It's just so cute I couldn't help it.

I think $80 is a great price for this cute doll house.

This is the dollshouse I wanted to get for dd, a friend has it and she loved playing it when we visited. I couldnt find it anywhere. I think $80 is a good deal. It was $125 for my friend to buy in 2004. HOpe your dd likes it.

Good to know about the Ryan's Room stuff - I could see adding a nursery or playground set.

LOL about playing with it - I agonized for 3 days before getting it - I finally told DH that I wanted it for me - I'll play with it even if the boys don't :-)
