Our 3rd baby is a few days old, and I'm seeing that it would really help to have a bouncer (or something similar) to be able to put him down in when I need to. I'm not keen on a lot of electronic bells and whistles, I just want something comfortable and safe for him. I've read a lot of reviews on different ones, and it's hard to pick what would be good--they all seem to have something about them that people complain about. Can anyone recommend one?

I keep looking at this one: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_2/602-6353168-9801466?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B000B4SVM4 but it's not quite out yet, it looks like.

Anything that has the vibrating feature!

We had the Fisher Price aquarium one and we were bowing down before it in those first weeks. It soothed the baby when we were simply too tired and/or out of moves. We used the vibrating feature and took off the entertainment bar until she was older.

You might not need the bells and whistles now, but the music and moving fish served a purpose when DD was bigger, but still needed to be strapped in while I showered.

ps- CONGRATS! :)

I agree w/the PP about getting one w/a vibrating feature. I understand about the bells and whistles thing - none of DD #1's toys had any lights, electronics, etc for the first year of life - and even now it's just one toy. But we did make the exception with the bouncer - she had the FP Kick 'n Play and that really kept her entertained. Right now, for DD #2, we're borrowing the FP Aquarium and that seems to be working fine for us too(the Kick 'n Play still works fine but we need a second one since it's more difficult lugging stuff around with 2 little ones).

My DS absolutely loved his FP Kick n Play bouncy seat. We also tried the aquarium bouncer and the pappasan bouncer, both of which he did not care for.
COngrats on your new baby. Three, WOW!

We have both the FP Kick and Play and the Aquarium Bouncer. Jackson loved the Kick and Play and Tyler prefers the Aquarium bouncer. We keep one upstairs in our bathroom and one downstairs. I also think the FP ones are a little larger and more comfortable than the others.

We had the papasan and then got the FP flutterbye birdie (??) bouncer seat as a gift when DC was 6wks old. She much preferred the bouncer with the vibrating feature. Good luck!

If we were strandard on a desert island and could only bring 3 things for our baby...I have to say our Fisher Price Papasan (with a vibrating feature) would most definitley be on our list. My 2.5 month old DD LOVES it. It is so cozy and she likes it whether it is vibrating or not. She has been extremely colicky from day one and is sometimes hard to settle down or sleep, but some of our more successful evenings have been when she fell asleep in her Papasan. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. Good luck, Heather

I would definitely have to say the Fisher Price aquarium bouncer. Both my children loved it. It was very relaxing.

We had the Kick N Play and it was my favorite piece of baby equipment for the first few months. DS was not a cuddler and he loved it!

Not to throw another bouncer into the mix but our DS loved his Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker. Not really a bouncy seat but it has a vibrating feature and it can be used up to 40lbs or so...hence the Toddler part. Granted DS rather climb out of it now sicne he's learned to move around but later on I hope he will use it as a chair to relax in.

We have the Infant to Toddler Rocker too and loved it! Zoe tends to climb ON it rather than OUT of it now, so I only leave it out when she's closely supervised, but she does still like to sit in it.

When she was smaller sometimes the only way I could get her to nap was with it set up like a bed with the vibrating part turned on.

I just received the FP infant-to-toddler rocker as a shower gift. I had registered for a more neutral-colored papasan bouncer but the friend who gave it to me said that the rocker worked well for her kids. A question: how soon can an infant be put into this rocker, and do you need to take any extra precautions like a headrest or something when using it for an infant? I have also heard the rocker can be a bit tippy.

And before I take it out of the box -- does this rocker fold up for storage, and if not, is there a good bouncy seat that does? (We have a small apt so space is a premium.) Thanks! And good luck with the newborn...:-)

We used the infant-toddler rocker from birth it was the only thing that DS would sleep in at first. There's kind of a kick stand that will prop it up so that it will be more like a cradle/hammock type dealie if that makes any sense. I also had a Snuzzler that I put in the rocker to help snuggle DS in when he was small...you can do this with rolled up receiving blankets as well.

It's definitely tippy once you baby knows how to lean forward and if you aren't using the kick stand for supprt, my DS does this so we put it away for now and will let him use it later when he's older say in a few months. It doesn't fold up for storage unfortunately. Maybe if it helps you can go test drive it at BRU or Target and see how you like it.

We're another FP Kick N Play family over here. This was about the only way I could take a shower in those early days! :)

We also used the rocker from birth. DD would only nap in our arms or in the rocker!

We are close to putting ours away for a bit, now at 7 months. DD would rather try to bust out than play.

Oh the toy bar was useless for awhile. DD couldn't reach it until about 5 months.

My DS much preferred this to the Kick 'n Play and it has the added benefit of being a rocking chair as a Toddler.

We loved the FP aquarium bouncer. The vibrating feature was great in the early weeks, and then the bubbles/light/swimming fish/music show on the activity bar was AWESOME when she was a little older. I could turn that on for her and she would be totally entertained long enough for me to bathe. Were it not for the swimming fish, I probably never would have been clean for at least a couple of months, LOL.

We're not big on toys and gear that make lots of noise, light up, etc. either, but on the bouncy seat it really made a huge difference.

Hee, hee, Kaya loved the Kick N Play as well and we recently took it out of storage to lend it to someone and Kaya decided she HAD to sit in it. She definitely played with it for a while and after she got out she started putting her dolls in it. So fun for a toddler too! ;)
