I just got a sandbox but can't seem to find sand anywhere. I checked Home Depot but they only have one type, called "coral sand" which the salesperson thought was only used for building and landscaping. TIA!

In the spring I know that Lowe's, TRU, WalMart and the local hardware store carry playsand.

We bought the sand at ToysRus because it was convienant. I'm pretty sure it was $5.99 for a 25lb. bag. We have this sandbox http://tinyurl.com/d4k4z and two bags was plenty. I bought 4 so I currently have two bags of sand sitting in the garage :) .

Where do you live? If it's a cold climate, chances are the sand won't be out until spring. We're in MA, and I know that once spring hits, we can find sandbox sand at TRU, Walmart, Home Depot etc. But I'd never be able to find it now.

Good luck!

make sure that when you buy the sand it does say for sandboxes -
I worked in a hardware store and you don't want any other sand near your child. The other sands have chemicals and other things not safe for kids.

Our Lowes carries one kind all year round even though we are in the snow belt.

I would look around too and make sure to get the white play sand...its been washed and cleaned so it doesnt make yourkids clothes all dirty. I love the stuff! It seems to be a bit finer then regular play sand too. If onlny you were close I have 4 extra bags of the stuff :)

I bought playsand at Fred Meyers but I see it year round here in the Seattle area. It was about $5 for 50 pounds.
