Looking for the easiest shape sorter

DD will be one this month, and loves the tupperware shape sorter, but it is too difficult for her, sometimes I cannot even find the openings on the first try! Does anyone have any rec's for a great "starter" shape sorter?

We have the Fisher Price shape sorter. It has a blue top and a yellow bottom. I think that it is the easiest.

We have a Playskool shape sorter that we received as a gift and DS loves it. It is purple and lime green.

Is this the one that just has three shapes...circle, square, triangle?

If so, I used this one a lot when I worked in early intervention. It is nice and simple, and all of the shapes are in the same plane if that makes sense. It makes it easier to see. When introducing it, I would take the top off and put it on the floor and let the kids use it as a form board/puzzle type thing. It makes it easier to get the idea.

I think mine was yellow w/ a red lid but it it was probably a really old version. I've seen them in tons of consignment stores over the years.

It makes a sound as each shape slides to the bottom. It's not a battery-operated electronic noise, I think it's the air going through the shape. It's a bit obnoxious, like a strained meow. The 12-24 month crowd seem to love it!

In addition to the shape sorting aspect, DS loves it for container play.....he loves to put the shapes in and take them out, or use the container for other things.

And Beth, this is the current version of the one you used to work with; MIL and one of DS's therapists have the older version exactly as you described.

The new FP ones also have a star. It was great for Rory. The circle was the easiest, star nex, square next, and triangle hardest.

We like the Lamaze one too. Love playing with the "ball" too. Great for soccer when first walking! I don't like the Peek-a-blocks shape sorter. Nupe

We had the Imaginarium one first and like the tupperware one I could barely use it. So we found this one by fisher-price. DD loved it and still plays with it at 2+ years. It is easy to use and easy to keep together (my other complaint with the imaginarium one) Oh, and the noise can be turned off. We got our at target but I've seen them all over.

We have both the basic Fisher-Price shape sorter (yellow with blue top) and the noisy clear FP shape sorter seen above :)

DD loves them both, but actually had more success putting shapes in the clear one at first. Now she loves them both - especially the basic one. She likes putting things in the yellow bottom and then tumping it out all over the floor, or all over me, whichever is more fun at the moment :)
