Favorite books to help a 2 1/2 year get ready to go to preschool? We have Mouse's First Day of School and he loves it. (Just to give an idea of the length of books he'll listen to, some of his other favorites are the Curious George books.)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

My DD loves her "Franklin Goes to School" book. She is a very big fan of Curious George as well!

My toddler enjoyed Little School by Beth Norling and I Love School by Philemon Sturges.

It think The Kissing Hand is a great book. It is about a little racoon that holds his Moms kissed in his hand while he is at school.

I'm going to take this list with me to the bookstore tomorrow! (More suggestions still welcome as I will gladly add to his book pile at any time.)

Thank you!

My son loved "spot goes to school" and "I love you all day long" He really seemed to understand the concept that I would leave, but always come back. The "I love you all day long" book has a saying "i love you when we're together and I love you when we're apart." My guy is almost four now and sometimes will still say it to me when we walk into preschool. He asks for the book even now!

I just saw the cutest board book IRL today! It's "Gaspard and Lisa's Ready-for-School Words." Here's a link to it on Amazon:

We got the Franklin and Spot books as well as The Kissing Hand and I Love You All Day Long. Those were the ones in stock at our Barnes and Noble. The Franklin one is an espcially big hit with DS!

Thanks so much!

My DD loved the DW goes to preschool book from the Arthur series. She gets REALLY into characters so we even incorporated DW mac & cheese (by Annie's organics) and Arthur chicken noodle soup (by Campbell's). But it was great b/c the book reinforced that getting dropped off isn't a big deal b/c mommy will come back to pick you up after school before you know it.

I love the Kissing Hand. The Franklin book is pretty good too.

If you want something more specific about preschool and what happens there, check out What to Expect at Preschool by Heidi Murkoff. It has a lot of text, but it was really good explaining different concepts (what is a class, what is a teacher, why don't mommy and/or daddy stay) and addressing concerns (what do I do if I have to potty at school) as well as describing various fun things that will happen at school.

I read it periodically over several months before school and then read it every day the two weeks before preschool began. DS was engaged in it and requested it sometimes.
