I want to start getting Rory excited about planting flowers this spring. Does anyone know of any books that show growing a plant starting with planting seeds?

Try looking in Amazon under children's books, science nature & how it works, botany. A lot of differnet books come up.

We don't have this book so I'm sorry if I'm getting the title a bit off. We had The Carrot Seed read to us at a story hour once. It seems like it might fit what you are looking for.

Right now, I can only think of a few books off the top of my head, from my days as a children's librarian:

Growing Vegetable Soup (board book)

Planting a Rainbow (board book) by Lois Ehlert

The Tiny Seed (board book) by Eric Carle

Also check out the "Customers also bought" section on each book's listing. And your local library would be a good resource for recommendations, too. :)

I really, really like the Lets-Read-And-Find-Out Science series. My DD has a couple of the books, including _From Caterpillar to Butterfly_, and they're very well done.

They're recommended for slightly older kids, but IMO it's never too early to read and challenge kids, and the illustrations are pretty toddler friendly.

There are two books that might work for you: How a Seed Grows, and From Seed to Plant. Here's the Amazon listing:

Seeds! Seeds! Seeds! -- by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace (goes through the life cycle of seeds)
The Surprise Garden -- by Zoe Hall (shows how different seeds grow into different things)
What's This -- by Caroline Mockford (how you can grow one sunflower, save the seeds to share, and then grow many more sunflowers)
