Does anyone here have these?? I bought one for DS and let's just say I am not impressed AT ALL. DH wants one now, but I am reluctant. Here's the issues:
--It has been dropped many times, the way toddlers tend to drop thngs, and it has a dent or two which do not bother me, but then the pain has started peeling!! In large chunks!
--It's supposed to ahve a ceramik lining inside, right? Well, mine seems to just be...nickel, metal on the inside...I know metal poisoning is just as bad if not worse than poisoning from too much plastic, so what to do??

I was able to get a glass baby bottle overseas, i wish there was a decent sippy-type device out there!!
Many thanks (and yes, I know it's just a bottle, but my kid drinks from his all day!).

I bought 2 for DS. His looked like they had some sort of coating over the inside.
Um...I would say I like them a lot, but I never seem to be able to remember to wash them. I don't know why, but I just can't get my act together when it comes to these. I think maybe it's because they can't go in the dishwasher, but I'm not even sure that's the reason.
I'm a SIGG failure...

What color is the inside, do you happen to remember? Now I am curious!

I'll say, we all have them and like them (I even got Francie the extra handles--too cute). The inside (I think) isn't supposed to be ceramic, but some kind of "inert coating" (my words..! ). It looks like an orange-y metal, if that helps. And ours are dented--I nearly cried when I got a huge dent in mine the same week I bought it!!

But as for the paint peeling, I would definitely check with Sigg or wherever you bought it, that doesn't sound right to me.

I will say also, that I had been carting around a plastic Nalgene bottle for years, and noticed the taste difference immediately with the Sigg--the old one really tasted plastic-y by comparison.

Good luck--hope you can find the Sigg love :) I think I started on my Sigg quest after some of your previous posts with Beth!!

Eri-
Have you looked into the stainless steel bottles?
I bought some by Thermos (called the FUNtainer) for DD. It's a straw cup, which I think is a pain to clean. http://froogle.google.com/froogle_cluster?q=thermos+funtainer&pid=2251647943723827422&oid=5990030225391765107&btnG=Search+Froogle&oi=froogler&lmode=&addr=&scoring=mrd&hl=en

I have this for myself: the SS Klean Kanteen Sport. DD likes it so much that I'm thinking about getting one for her, even though it's huge. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002CI7MO/sr=8-1/qid=1139979367/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-8173097-2408829?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance

The Siggs are cool looking, but are aluminum. I didn't know they were supposed to be ceramic inside (maybe the ceramic is between the layers of metal?).

Nother Nalgene-to-SIGG convert here. I have this one purchased at Cole Hardware. http://www.colehardware.com/cgi-bin/hlimages/display_all.cgi?sku=871096

It seems to have some sort of white coating inside that Cole Hardware describes as follows:
"The hygienic inner coating alleviates odors, aftertaste and contamination of the contents and is resistant to fruit acids and isotonic drinks".

I haven't dropped mine enough (yet) to notice a bunch of dings.

Does yours look like this, or is it another style? Maybe some styles are unlined.

I *love* the funtainer. I got one for DD. now I'm thinking of getting one for myself. If you are a cyclist and use a camelback you can use the same cleaning brush that is designed for the camelback for the straw.

Also as an aside, I got the funtainer at Walmart. It was cheaper than either Amazon or Target.

Thinking of getting the Kleen Kanteen for me but I was worried about it keeping drinks cool in summer. Have you had any problems?

I have the same problem with my own bottle. I was thinking of getting a child-sized one for Kaya, because the aluminum is nice and light, but honestly, I'm a bit concerned about peeling paint and major dents. I'm thinking a stainless steel kleen kanteen would be better--even with the dents, at least I don't have to worry about peeling paint.

I'm thinking of breaking down and getting one for Kaya as well because she's always drinking out of my KK. I got mine from Jack's Magic Beanstalk. I wish they came with a half-size for toddlers. I don't really want a straw for DD (much harder to clean), but it would be nice if it wasn't quite so huge.

I have the child's bottle from Amazon(red with some sort of horse on it). The inside is some sort of insulation, so it's NOT aluminum, but the denting and peeling is actually pretty bad and makes the bottle look quite sad. It does not affect the inside(I read about this in their FAQ section), but still...

I have a Kleen Kanteen and DS drinks out of it fine at almost 2. It is heavy but he does okay with it. I soooo wish they'd come out with a child sized bottle!!

I have considered the Sigg but I'm not sure if we'll go with it or not. I read a report from some green/consumer product type of group that said they do not leach aluminum into water, but things that are acidic (fruit juice for example) may leach some aluminum even w/ the inner coating. DS only drinks water though so that wouldn't bother me too much.

We have two Kleen Kanteens and we're happy with them overall. I just wish they could come out with a more child-friendly water bottle.

I hope that you can find something that works for you!

My 13 month old uses the Sigg .3 liter bottle, and I bought the additional handles--no problem!
