How does it compare to Kinderzeat? It is considerably less expensive (especially with the code listed in the Bargains forum and going through ebates) so I was thinking this might be a good alternative if the quality is good.

I haven't done a whole lot of research into the Kinderzeat, but the main difference seems to be the weight limit (150 pounds for OSA chair versus more for the KZ).

Thanks for any comments or opinions.

Well, I went ahead and got the chair from One Step Ahead. With the coupon code listed in the Bargains Forum (I think it's BABYSAVE, but can't remember for sure, but if you search for it you'll be able to find it) and including shipping it came to just over $98 and then if you go through ebates that would save you another 5%. I ordered the chair on Friday and it came on Wednesday.

The chair wasn't too hard to put together, but it did take longer than the 15 minutes the catalog said (but I did it pretty much by myself and I normally leave things like that up to DH, but I didn't want to wait until the weekend when he would have time).

So far it seems very stable and DD really seems to like it. The biggest negative to it for me is that the seat came with velcro strips already stuck on it to stick the pad on. The pad is very ugly (white vinyl of some sort), but I guess it's nice for DD to have a cushier place to sit. Since it's the hard side of the velcro it would snag her clothes if I just left the pad off. She had already figured out that there is a really neat noise when she pulls on the pad and she has said twice that she's taking the pad on a trip with her when she goes to the airport (so I guess she likes it?!).

I can't compare it to a KZ since we don't have one, but we have used a TrippTrapp (spelling?) at a friend's and from what I can tell, they seem pretty similar, but I really just don't know/remember the details of my friend's chair.

Bottom line: DH and I both think the chair is sturdy an DD likes to sit in it. I'm glad I saved $75 to use towards something else.

Hope this is helpful to someone else.

Oooh, I'd be interested in opinions on this as well as we're thinking of getting the Kinderzeat. But if the quality is good and the seat is actually wide enough for an older kid (or even me, since I'm still within the weight limit), it may be a good option.

ETA: Hmm...it's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like that center metal bar is a support bar, so it can't be removed. That means (I would assume) that the lowest the seat can be placed is where the bar is. Not sure how that compares to the Kinderzeat but my impression is that the Kinderzeat is more adjustable.

I am also very interested in the Euro II. I've searched the foruma and seen the same question asked several times but never really answered. It seems like no one who has a Kinderzeat has actually tried the OSA Euro Chair or vice versa.

I also have read the Kettler Junior High Chair mentioned as an option in several threads. But again, I can't find an actual comparison or pro/con list between the three chairs.

Basically, I would very much like to purchase a new chair for my toddler (26 months) now that he seems to enjoy bouncing his Inglesina "fast" chair to shake the table. The seat goes up to 33 pounds and he is only 25, but he can get the table shaking and loves the reaction he gets from his grandmother.

And also, I have a newborn on the way this month who will eventually use the Inglesina so the toddler would need to move in about 4 months anyway. I never used a traditional high chair --the older baby has sat at the table with me since before he even started solids & that is my preference.

But what is the best table chair to use? The Kinderzeat looks wonderful but it is so out of my price range & the plastic boosters seem like a step backwards to me somehow!

Any insight or other ideas would be appreciated. $100 or less would be especially appreciated!

Just thought I'd bump this up after the weekend. Any negative or positive feedback would be appreciated.

DH says I should just go ahead and order it, but I'd really like to know a little bit more by someone who already has one.

Thanks.

i have both a stokke kinderzeat and a tripp trapp (the european stokke seat that takes the belly bar -- very hard to find in the US). i was recently at a friend's house and at first i was amazed that she had tracked down a tripp trapp when i saw the groove for the slat. i looked at the chair a bit more and was surprised it fooled me! it was the OSA original euro chair, which looks like the stokke except OSA closed the open back of that design to make a triangle. i imagine they had legal troubles which led them to make this rounded euro II. if you can get your hands on a euro I, i think that is a steal! assuming the quality is similar, i imagine this is a good value. it's closed in on the sides, and i wonder how that is in practice. looks harder for a toddler to climb in & out on her own without a parent moving it away from the table.

and, to clarify something a pp mentioned, the stokke chairs also have metal cross support bars. the grooves for the seat/footrest are above and below it. the stokke chairs have a 300 lb weight limit, but i am only 130 and i sometimes feel a slight but unsettling give in the seat when i use it to reach a high shelf.

there is also this chair, the primo convertible chair, made in italy.

euro I (cringeworthy footrest placement!)

euro II highchair (to make things even more confusing, NOT the "euro II grow with me chair", also offered by OSA, which does not have the baby bar. this is only $10 more.)

Thanks Andrea! It is very helpful. I think we'll go ahead and get the OSA one. We could get a very nice Wusthoff knife with the savings. :)

ETA: Cool, the OSA code still works, plus you can get 5% cash back through ebates.
