At the age of 2, I don't think DS really cares if there is anything inside his easter eggs or not, but instead will have more fun opening and closing the eggs themselves. Anyone know of some sturdy easter eggs? I'm concerned he'll just break the plastic ones you can get at the grocery/drugstore. Maybe something made of sturdy cardboard or pressboard?

Can't help you with your search, but wanted to let you know that DS has played with his plastic Easter Eggs off and on since last Easter and they are actually still intact. DS was not quite 2 last Easter and is NOT gentle with toys. So, if you can't find what you are looking for, the regular ones might be okay.

I think you can find cardboard, paper-mache eggs at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. I'm pretty sure I've seen them there- usually they are nesting eggs with various sizes available. They are brown so you would have to paint them, but they might work for you.

We got some tin nesting eggs from Barnes & Nobles last year that have held up well.

Hearthsong has some paper mache nesting eggs http://tinyurl.com/e67j6 .

And here is another fun option http://tinyurl.com/hv7r2

I'll try Michaels. I don't think Hobby Lobby is in CA yet.

I'm all-over those bouncing eggs! DS throws things though, but if closely supervised and kept away from the tv and the dog, should be ok.

Thanks!

I second that my DS had no probs with his
plastic EE at age 2. Also, last year Target
had some plastic ones that had a little
plastic hinge-like strip that held the two
pieces together so they were easier for him
to match/open/close.

I know what you are referring to. I need to see if we have any of those hinged types. Thanks!
