I want to have a small scale egg hunt on Easter morning, but I don't want to give my dc a lot of candy. Does anyone have any ideas for what I can put into the plastic eggs that isn't candy? TIA!

Hmm. I've read about other parents filling them with Cheerios or Cheddar Bunnies (or less healthy/more healthy variants thereof). What about squishing interesting sponges in them for bathtime? A scarf to play with?

We're using Annie's cheddar bunnies and Annie's graham cracker bunnies.
I also made him a few little felted wool animals that I'll probably stick in some eggies for him.
Oh, and the boy loves "money" and "cash" so we'll probably fill a few eggs with coins or a dollar bill or two for his bank ;)
Stickers, tatoos, play jewelry (ring, necklace), chalk, little play dohs, etc. Any of the little plastic favor people use for goodie bags

I did a hunt for my nephew one year and filled the eggs with matchbox cars.

I picked up a couple of different pre-filled eggs at Target the other day. There are a few Sesame Street eggs with a SS-related "surprise" inside. I also got a couple of 4-packs of eggs from Play-Doh that are filled with, what else, Play-Doh!
I'm going to put goldfish crackers in a couple of eggs and most likely stickers in others. I might do some pretzels, too, b/c that's a treat (just like goldfish).

If you allow stickers in the house, then stickers will be nice and small and inexpensive for that purpose.
BTW, thanks to the PP who suggested "coins." :)

Thanks for all the great suggestions!
My son loves fruit...and I filled a few of his eggs last year with grapes and blueberries.

DH brought home some easter pastel marshmallows. I don't know why, but I'm going to use a couple for egg fillers.
Also, raisins and the little gel fruit snacks, and cheerios, maybe goldfish too.
Just a few in each egg, so DS doesn't overload.
