DS will be 2 this summer and we host frequent play dates. While we do have a pool and a single LT swing, I am wondering what other "must-haves" there are for the nicer weather. We have an ample backyard and will ultimately invest in some sort of swing set. For this summer, though, I am contemplating my options and wonder what you all think.

Do most 2 y.o. DCs love those single slides? Balls? Sand boxes? Picnic tables? What else??

We have enough space to do everything, though money is another issue. What would you recommend for ages 2-3?

Thank you!

Stephanie

My son's sand and water table is the hit of the neighborhood.

I was thinking about a sand/water table but then a few people mentioned that the water is always getting in the sand and vice versa (could totally see that happening). Do you find that doesn't happen so much? Or not so much a problem? Which kind do you have? I was thinking of the water wheel thingie or small pool and a separate cheap sandbox (like the ladybug or something) but maybe the combo would work well afterall?

Well, both sides currently have sand in them for that very reason. :) Leftover from last summer.

Not sure if I'm going to try to keep it separate this summer. Now that he's older, maybe he'll understand?

Last summer was spent in our sandbox. We built a 6x6 one and it was priceless! The slide , pool and swing from garage sales were nice too, but nothing gave hours of entertainment like the sandbox.

If you will have lots of kids around, go big!

We had a sand and water table first and then got the sand box as a gift later. Emma likes the sand box much better. I am thinking of getting rid of the sand and water table because it is now just taking up space!
