I did a search and the most recent post I could find was dated Aug. 2002. It seems the kiderzeat is too short for island eating, and the best option was some sort of hook on chair. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

If you have a chair-style stool for your island (versus a no-back stool), you could strap on a booster chair.

Our toddler has been eating at the island for months now. He insists on standing in his Learning Tower. He's really good about staying in it too, but I told DH that I wanted him to be able to sit down so starting this week we're trying to transition him to the table.

But honestly, I love him at the island because it's so convenient for me at mealtimes.

I'll be watching this thread closely.

My dd's do great with the hook on chair from OneSteapAhead. I was looking into the Chicco seat the other day b/c ours seat is really nasty from toddler dining. :) I have scrubbed it and use my steamer zapper to clean it periodically, but I think I need a new one.

Good luck!

That's what our friends with twins do. It works quite well. You want to try getting a very stable chair-style stool, but it does work.

I don't know if they mean a high-ish countertop, but this one SAYS countertop http://store.babycenter.com/product/gear/highchairs_boosters/highchairs/7797?intcmp= (it's really comfy, I've sat on one...just wasn't looking for that counter-height detail at the time)

that's what we did when charlie graduated out of the high chair. we had backless bar stools, but just went out and bought a backed bar stool & straped a booster on it. he's had no problems, he does push his feet on the wall under the counter & slides his chair back, but the chair is stable so it doesn't tip.
