Not sure what this is called but I'm trying to figure it out. It's an older toy (been around for a long time) but hard to find. The child uses a sort of stylus to write on the paper(?)and then lifts the paper up and the image disappears making it usable over and over again. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Where can I buy them? I'd like to keep some in my bag I use at restaurants to keep my DS's entertained.

Thanks in advance

Colleen

I remember those! I can't recall the exact name either, but I think the Magna Doodle has replace them for the most part.

I remember those. I think they are called Magic Slates.

Here is one that is similar

And here is what I would consider to be the old fashioned kind, but you have to buy 250 :-(

ETA: here is a smaller version

Yeah! Thank you very much. The one on the promobrands site was what I was thinking of. I think I will look into the ones on the usillygoose.com.

Thanks again - I knew someone here would know.

I *think* I know what you mean, and I saw them recently at World Market. They were super cheap - like 50 cents or $1 and came in at least two sizes.

ETA - Yes, these are what I saw at World Market. I think they were mounted on plain white cardboard though.

Colleen,

We just got back from dinner at Cracker Barrel.
We got there about 5:15pm and I think we were the youngest
people in the restaurant by about 40 years. :)

I love the little store in Cracker Barrel because
they have some cool stuff that you can't find anywhere else.

The last time we went to Cracker Barrel (about 4 years ago),
I bought Carson a tin of Crayola crayons. The tin case is
made to look like the original Crayola logo. It holds a
pack of 8 crayons. Perfect for taking to restaurants!

Anyway, I saw the MAGIC SLATE!! It was in the toy area
with all the children's stuff. I totally thought of you!!
I had a difficult time trying to find your original post.
I finally found it on page 8.

So, call your nearest Cracker Barrel and see if they have it!
