Or something similar? My parents are absolutely dying to get this for DD. I think it is very cute, but I'm not sure I really want wood. If you have one, what is the bottom like? Is it cheap plastic that is going to crack and break? What is the mesh cover like - just keeps animals out or will keep sand dry as well?

Thanks,

Hi,

I don't have it, but it looks super cute. Here are a couple of other threads that talked about it. From the discussion, it sounds like there is no bottom, only a liner to keep the sand in. I had considered buying this one, but since we wanted it for our deck, the bottom being only a liner is a deal breaker for us. I guess I could get creative and try to figure something out, but I'm too lazy :-).

Hope this helps...

I don't have the one you from costco, but just wanted to say that we've had the Naturally Playful one (http://tinyurl.com/r7d69) for two years and have been VERY happy with it. So, if you decide to go with a plastic sandbox instead, I'd definitely recommend considering this one.

The lid stays on all the time--we have extremely strong winds here at times and the lid has never blown off. We also have lots of snowfall and heavy rain and yet the sand has never gotten wet.

Of course, when compared to the costco one, it's not as cute nor does it have a shade canopy.

See? That's the one that I want! I think plastic is much easier to care for and it has a bottom, not to mention the lid. I also like this one:

I just feel bad because my Mom was over here today and looked at the area where we are going to put one. When she realized the boat would fit, she seemed so excited. You have to understand that my Mom is not the excitable type. She called about 30 minutes after she left and said she wanted to buy it for her. She was ready to go to Costco during rush hour to get it! I had to tell her no so I could think about it. Wanted to get some opinions here first.
