I have some of these: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00008ZCGH/qid=1150570271/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-3380335-4252069?v=glance&s=baby and a stuffed giraffe with a wind-up music thing inside of him. The blocks are ready to be stored and I wanted to get them good and clean before I put them away. They say surface wash only...really? Can I clean them some other way? Anyone have experience?

I don't have any experience with those specifically. But we have handwashed and washed in delicate cycle many a plush toy that was surface clean only. Can you remove the piece to the giraffe? If not then I would just surface wash or lightly dip up to that particular part. Of course I am a live and learn kinda gal so I am willing to try this my DS own toys. :)

I bought a cabbage patch doll and a stuffed big bird at a garage sale 2 weeks ago. I wanted to wash them before giving them to DS.... so I put them on gentle in the washer with some detergent - and they came out just fine.

I let them air dry.

I usually tie mine in a pillow case or one of those mesh delicates bags and wash them on gentle.

Thanks, girls. Maybe I'll try it...
