Hi All,
I am searching for an art board book for friends (both are artists) who are expecting their first child. I know I have seen some in catalogues but can't remember any names. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am also planning to give them the Young at Art Book (thanks to the recommendation on this board last year...that is a GREAT book!) but wanted to also have a fun board book.

Thanks!

I just ordered "First Art" Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos by MaryAnn F Kohl. I really love the projects. It has lots of great ideas on how to create fun, exciting projects for little ones. I do wish it had colored pictures. It does have cartoon type pictures of children, but they are all black and white. She is supposed to have other great titles as well. You can find her books and reviews at Amazon.

This is a different spin on "art book" but my DD loves "Mouse Paint" by Ellen Stoll Walsh. It was one of her first loves in a book and she still adores it at 2.5.

Not exactly Monet but decent color theory, and a bit of drama too. LOL.

Best,
Mary

Wow! thanks for the great suggestions. Thanks also for the reminder about mouse paint...my son really enjoys that book also. Now the hard part will be making a decision and looks like we might "need" to get some for our own little collection. Thanks again!

We LOVE these books. I also wanted to add that Baby Einstein has a bunch, too. DS's ABSOLUTE favorite is Windows to Color. Here's the link:

I have also given art books to artists' children. It is a fun gift!

Hi,

A couple that we like that are more for age 4-8 (I guess).

Art Dog

This one is a very pretty book. Almost like those "gift books" that you can leave on the coffee table.

Another series of books that I would highly recommend is the "Getting to know the world's greatest artists" book.

This is sort of different. It's a baby memory book but it has beautiful art in it and as art lovers they will appreciate it. I am using it for my second child.
