Please help: LeapFrog Fridge Phonics

I bought and returned three of these because all had the same defect, but now I'm wondering if it's me. The defect was the sound of the letter "L." Instead of "la," it sounded like "ooh" (kind of like the French pronunciation of "L." Is this right? Will you check your "L" if you have one of these? Thank you so much in advance.

it's definitely not "la" on ours, more of an lllll sound (no vowels).

Yes, it's "llllll" not "la." Not a defect, just an isolated L-sound rather than adding an unnecessary vowel. My daughter didn't have any trouble picking up the proper sound from the way they did it, so I don't think it's that big a deal.

Thanks for the responses. I got my sister, who is a teacher, to listen to it. She says it should be ok. She said it'd be better if the tongue was heard while pronouncing the L. So we got one, our fourth one, and DS loves it. Gotta love LeapFrog products.
