View Full Version : Is it really safer to have the seat belt for a Kettler trike?

I know that's a weird question but I think I read somewhere that it can actually make the tricycle less safe (like if the trike tips over, they can get trapped in it). I'm going to get DD (for her 2nd bday) the Happy Navigator w/push bar but it doesn't come with a safety belt. I can order one to attach to it. What are people's opinions/experiences?

TIA

Someone recently posted this question regarding the Radio Flyer trikes (I guess RF has discontinued seatbelts). Here's the post: http://www.windsorpeak.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=12&topic_id=53904&mesg_id=53904&listing_type=search

I think by the time my DS can ride his tricyle alone, he won't need the seatbelt and it will either be removed then or just not used. But we got our Air Navigator when DS turned one, and we simply couldn't have used it without the seatbelt or he would have fallen off. Around age two, your DD would probably be okay without it, but we are still using it with our DS who is a little older. I don't see any safety issues with it, except positive ones. Our DS is never left alone on his trike.
