I'm looking to buy a Gertie ball from a B&M store. It just seems insane to pay s&h for contained air! Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Gertie balls come flat packed. I have seen them at boutique/small toystores.

Right Start B&M stores have them. Also saw them in our local toy stores.

So how do you pump them up? Bicycle pump or is a special pump required?

They're not like a sports ball. They have little plugs that come out. You just blow it up like a balloon and stick the plastic plug in.

My sister found hers at Creative Kidstuff in St. Paul, MN. Since I don't live in MN anymore, I looked online and they also have shops in a few airports--incl. Cincinnati and Newark. My husband travels to CVG airport a lot, but every time they're out of stock! I think you blow it up with a small straw that's included and can inflate it as little or as much as you want. "underinflating" helps little ones to be able to grab onto it. I'm with you, though, it seems ridiculous to pay s/h on it.

We got ours super cheap @ Nordstrom Rack, believe it or not! Our Gertie ball came packed flat and came with a straw to inflate (you stick it in the hole & blow) and the plastic plug to stick in. They had a cool glow-in-the-dark one.

Our local childrens museum also has Gertie balls. If you're a member you get 10% off - I think most childrens museum gift shops run that way, so if you're a member of one, you should check there.

I am not sure about TRU (I don't go very often), but the other smaller independent toy stores near us carry them.

We have these at our Buy Buy Baby (packed flat in a box).

I don't know if you have one near you but Right Start has them.

Edited to correct the name.... darn teething and lack of sleep.

I bought ours at the Discovery Store. It's not a store I usually go into, but I returned a gift there and had to spend the money.

What is so great about these?

I purchased mine at Land of Nod.

What is so great about these balls is that a kid can actually grab it and it is soft.
