Of course, before he was crazy about wanting one I saw this all the time. Now at the B&M stores I can only find one at Walmart and I don't care for it. Seen any lately? It was my potty training promise, and I am going to need it soon :)

Toys R Us has the Home Depot Brand of toys, I wonder if they have a weed wacker in that collection?

Thanks! I need to check again. They were out at my location and they would not discuss ordering one. Ugh!

My nephew is big into weed trimmers and has gone through 3 so far.

1 - cheap bubble one from Wal-Mart - broke within the first month

2 - Stihl toy trimmer - looks the most realistic out of all three. plastic trimmer blade moved around, however it came off with velcro from what I remember. Trimmer was thin plastic so of course it snapped in two at no time. From what I know, the only place to buy it is at Stihl dealers. A googled picture to show you;

3 - Home Depot toy trimmer - got this for birthday in June, batteries were gone by the week, balls don't roll around anymore and trimmer "blade" won't stay tightened at any angle.

John Deere used to have a great one. I remember Corie was looking for it for awhile. It had a ripcord and had blades of "grass" that went around. It was also shorter and didn't have any angles so it won't break as easily. Of course it was discontinued 2 years ago and now is impossible to find.

Granted my nephew plays for real with these toys, they weren't babied at all and were put to good use until their ultimate deaths :-)

Yes, I was on a desperate mission to try and locate
the John Deere Weed Trimmer. I posted about my search
back in February 2006. Several moms were helping me
in this crazy search for the weed trimmer.

Then, I could not believe my eyes! Kathy (momto2boys)
found the John Deere Weed Trimmer. A store in Washington
state had 3 left in stock. Both Kathy and I bought one
for our sons. I have to say that it is a very awesome
toy and my son loves it! :)
Thanks again, Kathy!!!!!

Here is the thread about the search for the weed trimmer.

Corie,

does the ripcord really work? My nephews constanly pretend to pull the cord on any trimmer or mower and would be bitterly dissapointed if it had a cord and it didn't work.

We had the Home Depot one for about two years without any problems. Well, until I ran over it with my car. It didn't survive and now I need to buy a new one as it is one of our favorite outdoor toys!

Wow! I feel like I am on mission impossible! 8 of the 10 needed stickers are on the frig. Time is ticking for me. I have a toy store I am going to call by my office. If all else fails, I'll get the one at Walmart I really did not care for.

Yep, the ripcord really works! You pull the ripcord
a few times and then press the button and it starts whirling
around. Pretty cool.

Knox actually chases Carson around the house as he is whirling
the weed trimmer. :)

We also have the HD one and it has help up very will with lots of use. In fact, ILs are getting DS the leaf blower for his birthday (just in time for fall).
