My best friend's daughter is turning 2 in a few weeks. I want to send her a gift, something cool that can be just hers. Her little brother was born a few months ago and he has a cleft lip/palate, so his surgeries are going to be starting about the same time and I want something extra special for her. I'm sure a lot of what Simon likes will be what she likes too, but thought I'd ask anyway...what's a big hit with a 2 year old girl? She's all girl :)

My daughter just turned two. Here are some suggestions:
1. kitchen -- we have the wood one by KidKraft
2. doll house -- She has the talking Dora house, but there are lots to choose from.
3. Baby doll with accessories like a stroller, bassinet, high chair, changing table etc...the dolls made by Chou Chou and Zapf are supposed to be great.
4. Soft stuffed chair and ottoman in cute girly colors ... check out babystyle.com for some nice ones. My daughter loves to have her own chair.
5. Barbie piano with stool

HTH!

How about an American Girl Bitty Baby? I bet she would love it. :)

Well, my daughter turns 2 two weeks from today! She is very into blocks, balls, duplos, cars, trains, planes, art activities, music, and her kitchen. We are mostly giving her food for her kitchen.

For the holidays though we are doing a dress-up trunk; I'm getting relatives to just clean out their closests, another sister is making a few items, etc. My daughter is super obsessed with bags, purses, and shoes. She's not into dolls at all, though.

I was going to say the same thing Melissa! ;)

Now *THAT* would be special! I'm partial to the Bitty Twins. There is something about the hair that peeked the interest of my 2yr old nephew. He did see Bitty Baby first but wasn't interested until he saw the twin boy with blond hair. He went right up to it and said "Baby-Sam!" It was his "buddy" while we roamed the store and he was heart broken when we had to leave. I think it's an awesome doll and the quality is very high. I still have my Samantha doll from when I was 8yrs old lol! Don't worry you can buy the doll separately on ebay.

Hm...my other choices would be:

*An Only Hearts Club Doll, Furniture, Play Theme, and or Pet.

*Something from Le Toy Van. They have "THEE" cutest doll houses, play people, and a "fairyland" line!

*The Haba Doll Pram! It's so neutral she could use it as a shopping cart too.

*Dress up clothes, Sarah's Play Silks, Back Pack, Purse, maybe even some wooden Haba jewelry with a cute jewelry box.

*Schoenhut Toy Piano. This would be her very own. She could hand it down to her children, grandchildren etc. I would suggest getting a nice size so she won't outgrow it.

*Play Kitchen. There are many to choose from. Namely, The pink retro one from PBK, and the wooden ones either from Elves and Angels or Willow Toys.

*Table and Chair set from a BBB mom? She has a website...It's the Little Colorado set (nice brand) and paints them up super cute!

I think that's it! If I think of anymore I'll let you know.

Rebekah --- I went through all of your recommendations and I feel like throwing out all of DD's toys and buying everything on your list! Where have I been hiding??? I never heard of most of the stuff! I am overrun with every new toy out there, and managed not to have one of these!

Just thought I'd add a toddlerock chair--they get great reviews on here and it would be about $50 with shipping!

Dress up items are a big hit with my 2 year old. :) I bought a bunch of cheap beads from the party supply area at Target, and she wears them all the time. Usually with cowboy boots and tutu. :)
