For years I kept seeing these rugs in Home Depot and now that I want one my store told me last week that they clearanced them 2 weeks ago and aren't getting any more. I've seen one at Costco.com for $39.99 shipped, but not in store.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=10043297&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&N=4014574&Mo=15&No=6&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=48110&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&Sp=C&topnav=

I searched all previous posts and came up with the Home Depot ones. Does anyone know of any current sources? Thanks

We just bought this one from Ikea a few weeks ago for $15. It's a thin rug and when it first came out of the plastic the rubber backing had a strong smell, but that cleared completely after a couple of days.

DS really likes it and has used it regularly since.

My MIL also gave us one in April that is pretty cute (farm, hamburger joint, etc.). I just checked it and there are no tags so I don't know where she got it. My DH wants to get rid of that one because there's only enough floor space for one road rug at this point.

There is a really great brand of these carpets
called Learning Carpets.
(The company used to have a different name and they
have moved their headquarters.)

So, their website is still under construction.

Here are some examples of their carpets.

Since we are leaving Texas for Rhode Island, I may
need to buy this carpet from Flagship Carpets. :)

I was just looking for one of these myself and I found some cute ones online from Target (yea!). I think they may be very similar to those posted above.

Menards. If you have Lowes, they may have them too.

Not a rug, but if you can sew at all, Walmart carries a road print fabric that you can make into a mat. I have a couple of them - one with quilted backing and one with duck cloth on the back. They are very portable. Easy to stuff in a bag with 3-4 cars and have an instant quiet toy wherever we go.

Corie!

DS was born in TX. I bet DH would be so surprised if I got this for DS. Is Flagship Carpets online or bnm?

eta: never mind! I see the link above. Duh...

I want this, but have a quilt that serves the purpose ($1 at a charity resale event!) I like how portable this is.

I bought the Cruisin' carpet for DS a few months ago, and we love it. It's well made, the colors are bright, and it cleans up well (#$%@ cats!). I liked that the design doesn't repeat, as it does on lots of other play rugs. It also comes in a few sizes.

The best price I found online was at enasco.com:

I have been looking for the same thing, but they are so expensive and I really want one that is 5' x 8' or 6' x 9' .... does anyone know of one that costs in the $75-$100 range that's a big size?

I love this one, especially that the colors are more girly, but it's kind of small since I want it to cover the whole play area I set up for DD in my family room.:-( They also have it in the more typical colors....

UPDATE: We just picked up this rug - for $20 it can't be beat!

Chiming in a little late, but Discovery toys has one like this that has a giant checkerboard on the back and comes with giant foam checkers. I think it is $25 without the cars, $30 with 4 cars.

Thanks to all! There are so many gorgeous ones, but I'm trying (this time) to keep it in control $-wise. I ordered the one from Lowes with store pickup (didn't see it at my Lowes, but this way they have to find it for me) If my @$#$# cats mess this one up I will not be so concerned since it's cheap. I also did get the carry along play mat for a recent trip and it works great, I didn't see the checkers version which is cute (after I figured out how to fold it into a box). If I get a windfall I may be back for one of the nicer ones! Thank you again.

DS is really into cars...esp the larger size...more like tonka trucks...so should I get the one from lowes? But I really like the portable one b/c of the storage component? OR maybe he just needs some smaller trucks??
