We are travelling overseas in 10 days and I would like to take some of these on the flight.

DS is really fond of legos and I hope to kill some time with these. Our first flight is 15 hrs long. Boy! That must be fun with a toddler and a pregnant me. My DH has a couple of book he wants to read ;-)

Thanks in advance ladies.

Do you mean the really small Lego pieces for ages 4 and up? You should be able to find them at TRU or Target. If not, I'm sure the Lego store carries them.

Yup, really small lego pieces. I did some googling on travel legos, micro legos, small legos etc, not much turned up. So, trying here.

The "tiny" Lego pieces are called Lego.

Lego also makes larger pieces for toddlers called "Duplo." It sounds like though you are looking for the regular Lego sets. (the "tiny" ones you mentioned)

You can find them pretty much anywhere: Target, Walmart, Toys R Us.

Here is the link to the Lego department at Toys R Us online.

You will find more choices in Toys R Us's b&m stores instead of online store.

Lego online store will be the best place to find their complete selction:
For example, you can find Lego sets by product line. This link, e.g. shows their "City" line. Police car, boats, station etc.

These sets tend to come in fewer pieces because they want you to buy multiple sets! LOL. These smaller sets may be what you are looking for? Since you can really bring a whole bucket of Lego pieces onto the plane. Good luck with everything!

Thanks Lin.
I guess I have to make a trip to TRU.

I am looking for the really tiny ones that are meant for older kids. I figured since we will be with him all the time, it should be safe for DS (he turns 3 in November).

Kaya's been playing with my regular Lego since a little before she turned 2. But she wasn't really into putting things in her mouth, so we didn't worry about it too much. She really loves playing with the regular Lego, so we often let her play with it, although one of us is around usually. But she is very good with them.

I've gotten mine from Lego.com, TRU, Target, Walmart, Meijer, etc.

For your DS, I would suggest stuff maybe along the lines of these:

or if you want fancier:

And yes, in the store, they often have mini sets that come in boxes about 3"x3"x2" (something like that) with far fewer pieces that are anywhere from $2-$5 depending on the set. You might check those out for your trip.

Thanks Eileen.
DS recently built a ship and it did look like a ship. I have been shamelessly bragging about it for weeks. He loves legos.

Hopefully it will help him kill some time.

Oooh!!! Then he would probably love some of the building sets!

Kaya recently took a lot of duplos and made a cane. ;) But she has been obsessed with Canes of all sorts (several people we know use them), so I guess that's why. :)

eileen, so kaya has been ok with the reg legos then? i know that charlie doesn't put stuff in his mouth and has been playing with the reg playmobil sets since he was about 20mo, but legos always seemed so OLD to me...like i have to wait till he's in college or something.

i bet charlie will like that, he LOVES to build, i bet the little sets or a tub would keep him occupied for hours...as long as max's is not in the area, he'll be good...max DOES put everything in his mouth!

We've been buying these for Karsten since he was about 3 or 4, and they are great--the've ended all up in a huge under-bed storage box. The actual pieces being smaller (to the OP) wouldn't be a good thing, the regular 'Lego' are plenty tiny! Duplo and Quatro (and for the oldies here, Primo) are all much bigger.
