I remember someone posting a picture of blue bedroom furniture that was basically a copy of PBK or Land of Nod furniture. Anyone seen a bedroom set that is all blue that looks something like this--but not so expensive???

I know someone here got great-looking blue bedroom furntiure from K-Mart.
I'm not seeing it on the website though.

I'm seeing this that comes in blue: http://www.kmart.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=129247&No=24&Ne=573&Nao=24&pCategoryId=573&N=574&Nty=1&categoryId=574&gpCategoryId=561

Hopefully the blue-bed owner will see this and have more details. :)

There is an ebay seller- justgoodstuff2003 - that sells PBK knockoff furniture at good prices. There have been some very brief reviews of his stuff (all positive) over on the toddler boards. He has navy dressers, nightstands, and beds (with trundles, maybe without too), that are quite nice looking!

I am Marisa's K-Mart shopper poster. 4 piece set for under $600!

If your KMart has it, it will be in the baby furniture section, next to the stroller and stuff. They sell it in Blue and Honey finish and then there is a white 4 poster girly PBK knock off.

Here is Toby's room:

It is decent quality for the price, ok to put together (free up a lot of time to get that done!). One thing I did was add additional slats under the bed. Oh, it is MDF, but then again for 4-6 times the price, the PBK stuff is also MDF. The bed frame works bed with just a very thick matress, rather than a boxspring and matress. I purchased a bed set but ended up giving away the box springs because it would have been too high. Costco has a similar set that I considered but decided on this because it was the best price.

Have you checked out the Young America line from Stanley? They have a set in Navy, as well as a million other juvenile furniture lines:

http://www.youngamerica.stanleyfurniture.com/youngamerica/Goto.do?name=havenColorsAntiqueNavy

The scalloping on the headboard and mirror are removeable, if you don't like it.

There are lots of stores who will sell Stanley furniture at a discount (they're a North Carolina brand). We got a honey-stained solid maple set from Stanley (the Tranquility line) from a NC discounter and we paid about $2200, including tax and shipping, for a twin headboard, single dresser, mirror, nightstand, and a 30" chest with a bookshelf above it.

Here's a breakdown for what the individual pieces cost:

Twin Headboard 215
Single Dresser 462
Nightstand 299
Vertical Mirror 208
30" Chest 312
hutch 267
Delivery 401
Subtotal 2164

An added benefit, IMHO, is that Stanley was one of the few manufacturers that would sell us a plain headboard -- it adds *SO* much unnecessary cost to a bed to add the wooden frame and footboard, and it takes up a lot of space in a room.

I had seen some Stanley stuff locally, and was impressed with the quality. Then I went online and realized they have a TON of juvenile furniture lines, so I picked one and ordered sight unseen. The stuff is *beautifully* made. The drawer glides and the construction in general are *much* nicer than the PBK stuff one of my friends bought. I would say its equivalent to the youth furniture I saw at Ethan Allen.

I don't know where in the country you are, but if you're interested in pricing, try Beautifulrooms.net in Massachusetts or qualityfurnituremarket.com in Lenoir NC. These places gave us the best prices. Some of the "bigger" and more established North Carolina discounters you could try are Furniturelandsouth.com, Boyles.com and Rosefurniture.com (they don't discount quite as heavily, but a lot of people prefer dealing with the "big guys" in NC).

Good luck!

Does anyone know where I can get John Boyd Designs furniture in NJ? I can't get any info from their web site, but I love their designs.

Sorry don't know about NJ. I'm in the midwest.
We decided to get John Boyd for both of our children.
We are mixing blueberry and cranberry pieces from the Notting Hill collection.

I emailed them today, and they got back to me very quickly with three stores....so I have my work cut out this weekend.

I would like to check out the quality in person.

Do you have any idea what the lead time is on ordering pieces?

No, I don't know about ordering pieces. The children's furniture store where we purchased them tends to have the more popular pieces/colors in stock, which has been the case when we have decided to purchase each piece, as we have purchased one piece at a time.
