Since so many of you like the First Art book, I wanted to also add that the same author, Mary Ann Kohl, has written many more books with art related activities for kids. I just got a bunch to look through from the library. I think they are really great resources.
For example, Cooking Art has recipes that are also creative activities. Some are simple: make a face using pieces of fruits and veg on a rice cake spread with peanut butter. Others can be simple but also leave room for more interpretation that goes along with more dexterity: make a "dough" using mashed potato and grated cheese, shape the dough into funny shapes, heat and eat.
There's another book on preschool art, sculpting, environmentally friendly art. I'm never going to run out of stuff to do with these books.
