I am at a loss of what to get avi for his 2nd birthday. He LOVES trucks and elmo. He has a ton of clothes and a ton of toys. Is there anything that your 2 year old loved/loves? I would like to keep it under $50 if possible but if it is ~ that much i am flexible. I would rather this toy not be total plastic and that he will use it for more than 2 weeks iykwim?

Thanks!

We get our 2 year old grandkids tents. They love them and you can put their toys in there at night.

Can't believe Avi is almost 2!

I gave my nephew 1 a pass to the local aquarium for his second birthday.

For nephew 2 I gave him a Brio tunnel (they got Brio the previous Christmas) and a play tunnel from Ikea.

They still play with the tunnel as they were fighting over it just today, it is the light blue one. The aquarium pass was great, something easy to take the kiddo to. I'm sure there has to be some kind of great zoo/aquarium in your area!

Anything that you can build on by giving more pieces the following years is great as well. Nephew 2 (almost 2 1/2 now) loves the Barclay blocks I got his brother for his birthday. Same with Brio/Thomas trains, they're great. A nice gift that will last the test of time.

Hope this gives you a few ideas.

Thanks for the ideas. I would love to get him a tunnel but right now they are living in a appt which is not very large. Hopefully in a few months they will be moving into a larger place.

I would love to get avi a train set/trains, i know that he would love that. Thanks for the great idea! I am just a tad nervous about that because avi is still having some trouble not throwing some toys. He is alot better than he was a few months ago but we are still cautious with toys that could cause potential pain/injury.

Thanks again,

How about getting him a couple of hooded "animal" toddler towels from Pottery Barn Kids or similar? That's what I'm getting my niece and nephew for Xmas. There are lions, elephants, etc., and you can customize it with their names. You can always create a fun bath theme with a rubber ducky or other bath toys. He'll definitely use it!

HTH!

No he doesnt. that is also a good idea but he still is doing the "throwing" thing so we try to keep his toys soft. Maybe in a few months.

Great idea!

My sister gave my kids these PBK towels for christmas 2 years ago, and we LOVED that! They are very cute in person, too.

TRU has a hooded Elmo towel. My DD is also into ELmo so I tend to notice Elmo related things :)

If you're looking for trains, my two-year-old loves his Geotrax trains (Fisher-Price). He got them two months after his second birthday...when his baby brother came home from the hospital. He's had so much fun playing with the trains (which we told him were a gift from the baby) that he didn't mind the new arrival.

They seemed a lot more reasonable than the Thomas trains (although I suppose if you have a Thomas-obsessed child, nothing else will do)...snd there's plenty of variety to add on and enhance the set over time. DS figured out how to operate the remote controls in no time (although we do have an occasional train wreck.)
