Hi!
I'm looking for some simple board book recommendations.

A book about colors
Something simple... like the word BLUE in the middle of a blue page. Not a lot of pictures or details, just lots of big chuncks of color.

A book about shapes
Again, something simple... maybe a big square with the word SQUARE under it or on the facin page?

Similar books for ABC and Counting.

My DD is only 7 weeks so I'm looking for books to get started with, that will be usable for about the next year. Then we'll graduate to books with more pictures/details/plot.

Thanks for any and all ideas.

I've really liked the Priddy books. Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for. They are biggish board books -- pictures, but not a lot of details.

We have this one with Colors -- http://www.amazon.com/Play-Learn-Colors/dp/0312493975/sr=1-5/qid=1158018652/ref=sr_1_5/002-8173097-2408829?ie=UTF8&s=books Example: One page is BLUE with pictures of blueberries, a baby in a blue sweater, etc.

And this one with Animals was a HUGE hit: http://www.amazon.com/Love-Animals-Wild-Scary-Cuddly/dp/0312493916/ref=sr_11_1/002-8173097-2408829?ie=UTF8

I got them at Ross or Marshall's, but I know they're at Target and B&N and other places too. I know Priddy also have Shapes and ABCs.

Good luck!

A second vote for Priddy books. Very simple but cute, and Peyton enjoyed them.

DS loves Red, Blue, Yellow Shoe by Tana Hoban

http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Yellow-Shoe-Tana-Hoban/dp/0688065635/sr=8-1/qid=1158022100/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-2625787-3157706?ie=UTF8&s=books

One of his favorites when he was little (actually he stills really likes it) was Baby Faces by Margaret Miller.

4th! We have the "Bright Baby" ones (colors and animals) that I picked up at Marshalls, and one of the texture books (cold-weather animals). E likes them all.

We got this book as a hand-me-down and my DD loves it. It was also loved by my friend's kids.

I think they also have similar books about counting.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I decided to get the Happy Baby Colors and 123 books. While they are a little more "complex" than I thought I wanted, I think that's a good thing in the long run. They are still very simiple, with the each 2 page spread devoted to just one color or number. As she gets older, we can have fun finding and naming the objects pictured so my DD will be able to enjoy them longer. I especially like the "game" pages at the back of the books - where baby gets to match the colored squares with the objects on the opposite page.

Thanks again everyone!

Another vote here. We have Animals, Colors, and First Words. There is a Trucks one but it was never in stock until DD "outgrew" it. She absolutely loved these books and at almost 3, still looks through them on occasion.
