Has anyone seen the "hispanic" version of this doll IRL? I'm wondering how dark the brown hair is. The stores around me only seem to have the caucasian versions. My younger DD has brown hair/eyes, so I was thinking about getting her the hispanic version for Christmas (not to mention it'd make it easier to tell her's apart from her sister's blonde one ;) )

(The hispanic one is on the far left in the yellow outfit.)

I asked this exact question nearly a year ago. My DD also has brown hair and eyes and I was considering getting either the hispanic or Asian FP doll for her. I don't think anyone ever replied that they had seen one IRL. I called store around me and no one had it. I keep looking when I'm in stores that sell these dolls and the only oens that I see are Caucasian and sometimes the African American dolls. I think it's kind of sad because the more diverse dolls look really cute and it is so hard to find dolls that look even a little different - most of them are blonde with blue eyes, for heaven's sake. It is so silly.

I ended up with a Corolle Calin doll, by the way - a local independent toy store had them so I could buy one in person, and I was happy with the doll (so is DD!).

Good luck!

I'll check out the Corolle doll too, thanks. I think it's ridiculous how many dolls are blonde w/blue eyes too. Being that I myself have blonde hair and blue eyes, I never gave it a thought growing up. Now that I have a redhead and a brunette (neither w/blue eyes) it really drives me batty!

I don't know if you've looked at them, but American Girl has a brown-eyed, brown-haired Bitty Baby. We have one for DD #1 and it's very cute. There is also a discount code in the bargains forum. I think it's $10 off and it's good until 9/30.

My MIL is also going to look for it in El Paso, TX. They are getting DD a baby doll for Christmas. I decided to go w/ the FP rather than Corolle b/c it looked more ethnic to me. However, I will have to check out the bitty baby!!!

I was planning on getting American Girl dolls when the girls get a little older. Right now I was hoping to stick with a cheaper doll as it'll get a lot of wear. My older DD's Little Mommy doll has held up pretty well (not to mention she's quite attached to it), so I figured I'd get another one for her sister.

I posted on another board and there were replies that some people have been able to find the little mommy-hispanic doll at Big Lots. I called mine and they do not have it. Also, on the amazon site it is lites at a pre-order. hth

I saw one at our local K-Mart several months ago. I ended up getting DD the Little Mommy twins, because they actually had two brown-eyed ones and I was more concerned with eye color than with painted-on hair. It was really cute, and the hair was a dark-ish brown (not black, but pretty dark). It also has a slightly darker skin tone than the blond babies. (Which in my opinion is actually closer to a "human" skin color than the caucasian dolls' skin!)

Of course, at this point DD has a rather large collection of babies, but I still really want to get her one with brown hair. I've been looking at this Corolle doll:

I just need to convince DH that there's some developmental reason that DD *needs* a doll with hair to join her box of babies...

Just another option!

Sarah :)

I saw Amazon had it for pre-order, but I don't like pre-ordering from them if they don't have some sort of estimated date of availability!

I've only seen blonde/blue eyed twins in my area! Figures. I'll give Kmart a try soon I guess and see what they have.

Thanks,

Just an FYI update in case someone searches for this info. in the future...

I saw several of the hispanic dolls IRL today. The "hair" is very dark brown. And while I don't have a problem with the color, I will say that it more or less looks like someone grabbed a blonde doll and a can of dark brown spray paint and went to town with it. The results are something to the effect of a painted on dark brown helmet. :(

As for the eyes, they are a very very light brown color. More hazel than brown IMO.

HTH someone,

I completely agree. The older Little Mommy dolls seemed nicer to me. Here's a short thread with some other suggestions from me:
