Anyone have any of those "Mr. Potato Headesque" things you can push into a pumpkin to decorate it. Eyes, mouth, ears, etc. Can you find them in a B&M store? DD is into Mr. Potato Head. Sharp objects putting holes into her PUMP-kin...not so much.

I just saw some at Gordman's yesterday. I didn't look at the price. They were with the Halloween stuff on an end cap by the registers. HTH,

I have one, and I have seen them this year at Target.

I got mine from OSA. I guess I should've checked Target first and saved myself the shipping.

$4.99? They were $7.99 at our Target last week. Guess I need to go back and see if they are on sale.

DH not too sure about them, but at $4.99 I'll get one set.

Our Target had them on an end-cap near the candles- sorry forgot to look at how much :)

Definitely $5 at Target - not on sale. We bought the pirate one and decorated our pumpkin yesterday. DD was able to help put the pieces in although I did need to make starter holes with a scissors first. Otherwise the plastic anchor pegs were not strong enough to push through the pumpkin rind. It turned out to be adorable and a nice finish activity to our day of pumpkin picking.

Okay so I am sure this is a stupid question, but do you cut open the pumpkin and scoop out all the seeds/pulp etc., and then put in the pumpkin arms and legs and stuff? For some reason I was thinking when I bought this, oh how easy you just stick them in the pumpkin, later realizing that probably isn't how they work. :)

Thanks for any advice!

That's how *I* plan on using them. DD already had a coronary when I tried to cut open her pumpkin. AND...I hate pumpkin guts. So, I'm sticking those suckers in.

You just stick them in the pumpkin. The only cutting I did was with a scissors to make starter holes for the plastic pegs because my pumpkin was too hard to push the plastic pegs through on their own. It was super easy and turned out great!

That's what we did. DH used a meat thermometer to poke starter holes and then DD suck the pieces in. No carving or scraping seeds out needed!

Where can I find these in Target? I'm totally sold on this idea, but hate wandering through the store in the hopes of finding something elusive!

(Plus the more I wander, the more I spend!)

I got ours at PBK 2 years ago after Halloween. They are very cute, but were quite a bit more than $5 even on sale, so I would recommend the Target ones if you can find them.

That are appropriate for 2 year olds? I'm thinking stickers, but would wonder what else -- we're not good at crafts yet, so the Mr. Potato Head things sound pretty darn good.

Thanks!

Ok, went to a different Target than normal and found them for $4.99 but only princess, diva, and witch left. Got the witch to use at work and will head back to our usual Target to see if any pirates left (and check the price). Maybe I just read it wrong, or more likely, shelf was mismarked.

eta: found these on an endcap in the Stationary dept at one store (where they keep their crafts) but endcap in the halloween area at our usual Target.

Only other thing I can think of would be paint (or maybe sharpies?). Would not recommend foam cut-outs, I have the foamie things on my bathroom garbage can and everytime DS gets into my bathroom he immediately picks at them. I have wingless dragonflies on my can now.

Our target also had something similar to a "Lite Brite" for pumpkins, but you'd have to cut/scoop the pumpkin first. It cam with an LED light you put inside to make the pieces glow just like the original game. These were with the pumpkin carving kits. If your DS is good about using small items those might be cute and a slightly different option?

This is what I ended up getting. Our Target didn't have the "Mr. Potato Head" type decorations. DS will love this though, becuase he's in a big hammering stage!

I tried to buy the fireman set today at Target and they wouldn't sell them to me because they came up as recalled. That stinks.

Interesting. The Target near us had them out still, but since they didn't have the fireman or pirate left, I didn't buy one. However, I did buy the witch on Tuesday with no problems.
