Hi all,
Am working on xmas list and wondering if I should get the Lego Duplo or Quatro for my DS who will be 17 months at Christmas time. Thanks!

i got charlie the quatros for xmas when he was 18mos and honestly...he didn't start playing with them till now, and he's 3! he plays with his megabloks & duplos much more! i find that the quatros don't stay together well either, like it has a loose fit. i just got the boys more duplos and they both love them, especially max (14mos). he's not building, but he seems to pick them up more than the remaining quatros that are floating around.

We didn't bother with Quatros. DD probably started playing with her Duplos around that age. At 25 mo, they are one of her favorite toys. She can build things forever!

we have a small set of quatros and DD who is 17 months likes to play with the container more than the actual blocks. her 3 year old friend loved them though. I wonder if I should hang onto them, or get rid of them.

DD was just over 17 months last Christmas and we got her duplos. She's done fine with them although she's just recently started to get really into them so I'm now thinking about adding on and/or buying a base for building upon.

I'd go with the duplos. We got DS the Quatros when he turned one, but honestly, he nevered played much with them at all. The pieces were a little too big for him to handle and they didn't stay together very well. We gave him the duplos sometime between 18-24 months and he took to them immediately.

I gave Kaya her quattros at around 9 months and she liked dumping them and putting them back into the bucket. At 17 months, she was definitely playing with her Duplo/Preschool table a lot and still does. I would just skip the Quattros at this stage of the game and get your DS the Duplos. And I highly recommend the preschool table with duplo blocks ($19.99). I got it for Kaya when she turned 1 and she still plays with it and will likely play with it until she's at least three.
