View Full Version : Anyone have the American Girl Bitty Baby Crib?

I'm wondering which is better: the American Girl crib or the Pottery Barn cradle? DD will be 2.5 when I give it to her, but want it to be the only doll bed she has. I hear from other moms that becoming American Girl obsessed is common. I'm wondering if having the AG bed will be important to her later? I'm also wondering the quality and look of it in person.

Thanks!

We have the AG crib. It's very cute, but it is plastic. It has held up well over the last two years. My youngest DD will on ocasion stand in the crib and the bottom falls out, but it snaps right back in place.

The PBK cradle is adorable as well. You need to decide which way you want to go now - wood or plastic. I don't think the AG crib would look good with other wooden accessories, like a highchair. It has a look of it's own, so you'll probably need to buy everything from AG in the future.

ETA:
This is best picture I could find of the crib and highchair.

We have the bitty baby stroller and honestly the quality stinks. (the seat is constantly falling off) I'm not sure I would get anything but the dolls from them. We have a very nice cradle and high chair that my in laws got from an unpainted furniture store and painted for us. They are solid wood and very durable, no assembly or anything.

DD got the PBK cradle two years ago & still LOVES it. It is one of the best gifts she's ever received. Tonight, she tucked in her new My Little Pony. I think it's pretty & has held up very well. She has the bedding with it too.

Thanks everyone...I'm so glad to have this feedback. I would have been pretty upset if I'd have ordered the AG crib, since I never noticed in the description that it's plastic! I really want a wood bed. So, I'm definitely keeping the PBK cradle that I bought during F&F sale.

So, where do you get a high chair that will look good with the PBK crib? I don't think they sell one there.

We have the Levels Of Discovery Highchair. It's held up well, absolutely beautiful, and would look so cute with the PBK cradle.

That is a beautiful high chair! My question is: where is the tray for baby to "eat" off of?

Annie,

There is no tray, but DD likes it cause it's like the Kinderzeat. She just pulls it right up to the coffee table. DD places her dishes on it and will use a spoon to "feed" her babies.

I've seen a couple nice wooden ones with trays.
