What are your baby/toddlers' favorite blankets? I'm looking to get a friend's 16 month old a blanket as a gift and am considering the larger sized Taggies. Anyone have a good experience with this, or similar blanket? Any other favorites out there - let me know! Thanks! :-)

I bought the Little Giraffe chenille blanket ($60) for my DS thinking it would turn into his lovey. He ended up choosing the $20 Katie Little Luxury Blanket for his lovey. This blanket has held up better than the more expensive blanket; even though it is being dragged around the house all day.

The blanket can be found at Burlington Coat Factory: http://www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Section_Id=11280&pcount=&pn=6&Product_Id=367059&sku1=k_s1_72481877&is_baby_depot=1

My DS loves the travel silkie. It is satin on 1 side and furry on the other with a satin border. He never got into the taggie blankie, although he had 2. He got attached to it at around a year or so, and now will not put it down--it comes with us EVERYWHERE. I tossed all his blankies in the crib with him when he got old enough to not worry about SIDS, and let him choose. Once he got attached we bought 2 backup identical blankies, but he knows the difference and will not touch the imposters.

My DD's favorite blanket is an inexpensive fleece one from Target.

ds loves his homemade blankets.. that is all i can get him to snuggle with. we only let him have these at bed times. his cousins, that is all they use as well. i would say he like his fleece blankets ok.. but they don't compare to the homemade oens..

charlie has a green blanket that's not really fleecy, more furry, but not like velour or minkie on one side, and satin on the other made from carter i think that i got at wal-mart, it's got a bears head in one corner, i'd say it's 36x36. he's dragged this thing around since he was about 15 mos. replacements are not to be found, i've searched EVERYWHERE!!

max has this blankie from TRU:

it has the same "fur" as charlie's. but with a satin edging, not a complete satin side and he drags this thing around all day too, starting a few months ago.

i got a satin/minkie blanky from a wahm from the place i work (a 3d imaging place) and my neice LOVES it, she's only 4 months but she rubs it between her fingers and on her face already! we also have one that is flat minky, not a dot minky on one side and satin on the other that lives in the playpen...actually, it might be living at daycare once he starts in a few weeks.

so, if you are looking for something that will turn into a blanky i'd look into a satin one side, or trim and furry type opposite side.

www.comfortsilkie.com is nice, max has a lightweight one that is satin on one side/flannel on the other that stays in his crib along with grandmas chunky knitted blanket

these are currently sold out, but they are just adorable and come in boys or girls styles, again, i think it's minky and satin.

and also http://www.myblankeeinc.com/dsv_blankets.php
has really CUTE ones, some are pricey, especially the bigger 30x35" ones, but the litter loveys sized ones 14x17" aren't as bad. and they come in SUPER SOFT fabrics and satins...cute prints, beautiful soft stuff, and i think they even have asian and brocade style satins!

look at that plush on that, how could that NOT be snuggly! and for $14 for a small or $29 for a large, i'm in!!

as you can see, we are BIG blanky fans here :)

My DD's favorite blankie is a cheap Disney princess fleece -- I've seen them at KMart, Walmart, the Disney Store -- she's really really into Cinderella (she watches the movie at least twice a day, seriously), and the blankie has Cinderella, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty on it. I've got a huge collection of beautiful, expensive blankies, with satin, fur, fleece -- every material you can think of, and this is the only blankie she has ever cared about. Disney sure knows what they're doing!

I have two blankie kids.
My 5.5 year old dd has the Lands End bunny belly blanket as her lovey. My 2 year old ds has the PBK chamois blanket as his.

Ditto on the inexpensive fleece from Target!
He's got expensive ones too, but I bought a Circo Baby fleece ($4.99) to use outside, winter in Los Angeles (hehe.. yes, when the temperature drops to 60... ).

Its really a lightweight fleece, soft, washes great and actually matches his bedding set.

So, because the house can get a little cool (not much insulation and we rarely turn on the heat) I started using it indoors and low and beyond, he loves to cuddle with it. :)

It comes in about 6 different patterns, I got the light green with the pastel jungle animals.
I'm definitely going back for a few more, probable will have to be the same pattern though since ds is fond of it.
Too bad, they have a light blue with stars that is very cute too.

The crazy expensive Little Giraffe blanket (not the little one) that costs $60 bucks. :eyeroll:

The original was a gift, and Kayla took it as her blankey. Well, that meant replacements (and make sure you always have a backup) meant yet another $60. I tried the little one $30, but that was a waste. She wanted the big one. So I think I'm over $200 in blankeys now!

This next baby is getting the knock off from BRU. It's very similar, and much cheaper. ;)
