Gift for 7 month old?

Gosh my memory is short... I have no idea what a 7 month old girl would like for Christmas. What would be a great age-appropriate gift? It is for a good friend's DD, but we don't tend to exchange $$ gifts. I'm looking at the $30 range. It could be one gift or a few smaller ones.

My DS2 will be a little older at XMas, but I was looking at the Parents Magazine Bee Bop Band set at Target. Or how about some egg shakers, maracas, etc?
