I'm just wondering if there is a point in owning both legos/duplos and wooden blocks. Please pardon my ignorance, but it seems like they are just both for building. I only grew up with legos, so I can't really attest to what the difference are (other than the obvious physical ones.)

I see so many posts about wooden blocks, it just got me thinking about it.

Please educate me!

Thanks!

We have both. Nathan is 3 and seems to like to build with the wooden block much more right now. I think he finds them easier to stack and the "crash" really nice when you drive your cars into your tower. We have a huge bucket of duplo blocks I got at a yard sale ( for $2) he occassionally on his lego table.

I found with my kids they play with the wooden blocks at an earlier age.

My ds has liked both, maybe a slight edge to Duplos (or Megabloks). You can do more interesting things with wooden blocks in terms of the strucures you create but sometimes they can be frustrating when they tip over (less sturdy sructurally than legos usually) but that can help them learn to build better/ differently.
