The big holiday gift for 3 year old will be an easel. We have a small room where I plan to set up easel and want some sort of storage unit for all the supplies that Santa will stock it with. I have a dog and need to have closed storage bins so crayons, paint, glue, etc will not be eaten! I was thinking of a shoe box organizer cart or rolling cart, but want it to be kid-friendly and wouldn't mind it having some color. I think I would eventually like to add a little table/desk as well. Anyone set up a room like this have any ideas. Thanks!!

Have you looked at Ikea? They make several rolling carts with drawers, buckets, etc...

I would recommend getting a couple of TROFAST containers w/ bins from IKEA. They are the perfect size for art supplies and paper, and you can buy lids that fit into the tops of them. The lids do not provide sealing storage the way a Rubbermaid or Sterilite container might, but they are also easy enough for a preschooler to access. We have 3 TROFAST units and do not use any of them for art supply storage right now (no floor space), but we actually bought them pre-kids to use for computer equipment and office supplies. ETA: At my IKEA, they often show two Trofast storage units with a desk rigged up between them. It'd be easy to do as the units are solid wood -- all you would need is a board about the same depth as the units and a couple of L brackets to attach them.

Hi,

Here are a few ideas:

We actually use this diaper wall mounted diaper shack tipped on its end and it makes perfect little cubbies for the different supplies. We use plastic bins to store like items together.
