My older ds saw these at a friends' house and really wants them for Hanukkah.

Any ideas about the best place to buy them? They look like they come in 32, 48, and 100 piece sets. I was thinking the 48 piece set would be plenty. They boys have so many building toys, but that seems to be their favorite thing to do right now.

Here's a link with a picture:

ET add: our local toy store has the small sets for $50 and the large sets for $65. Have no idea how that pricing is. Of course, there's no shipping if we buy them locally.

Sometimes kidsurplus.com has them at a discount (didn't see any now). Your other bet is to check other sites that carry them at retail prices for rebates though Fatwallet, Ebates, etc.. We got some for Sarah at a local toy store and used a coupon. We didn't save much off retail, but I hadn't seen any great online deals on the set we wanted, espcially after shipping.

Hopefully someone else can help.

Thanks for asking this--I was thinking of getting my DD some too!

www.growingtreetoys.com has the 32 and 48 piece sets, but the 48 piece set is out of stock currently. There is a 20% off one item code that expires 11/30. With the 20% off, that seems to be the best online price that I've seen. I was also planning on getting a set for DS.

That's a good deal. Too bad re: the 48 piece set. I wonder if they'll be back in stock in the next few days. Probably not.

Thanks so much for giving us the head's up on this toy. Do you know where the 20% off coupon is? I've done a search in the Bargain Alert, and a google search and I can't find it. Thanks so much!

It's in the pinned coupon codes thread in the Bargains Alert forum.

Thanks so much; I found it this time. :P In fact, I just ordered the small set for $42 shipped, which is definitely the best price I have seen. Thanks, again!

If you have a Learning Express near you they carry the Magna Tiles and currently have a 25% off coupon out. I'm not sure when it expires since I can't find mine right now.

HTH.

Our Learning Express was out when I called today. But the person I spoke to didn't sound too up on things. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow. Thanks! I don't think I have a coupon, though. I'll have to look.

I figured I'd better look for the coupon since I wanted to get the Magna Tiles too. Unfortunately it expired on 11/22. I may try to see if they will still take it or if another coupon is coming out soon.

BTW, not sure if all Learning Express stores work this way, but when I signed up for their email list I didn't receive any coupons. It was only after I went into the store and signed up that I started to receive them.

You really want the bigger sets, Lisa. DS has two sets of these (48 pc each) and will be getting a third - they are easily THE most popular toy in our house. My MIL volunteers with DuPage Children's Museum and the perk of it is 20% off in the gift shop (which carries Magna-Tiles - they have HUGE bins of them in playtables at the museum).

Hmm. Thanks, Caroline. Maybe you're right--Jack likes to have a lot of pieces to build with. I've been to the DuPage Children's museum, but don't remember playing with these.

We have a coupon for 20% off at a local toy store who carries them--so it would be 20% off $65 and no shipping. The coupon isn't good 'til Jan. 1, though. Maybe we should hold off and use it then . . . he'll have plenty of other gifts to distract him.

They used to be in the basement. Now they are on the 3rd floor, and they have some of the clear ones on the light tables. For next time you are in the area. :-)

I'm kicking myself for not getting them when Learning Express had the 25% off coupon. The coupon I got today is $7 off $35 so the savings are not as big. Darn. Has anyone seen any other deals?

I found this website that seems to have them at a "slight" discount right now:
