I just saw this one in the Sensational Beginnings catalog ...

http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=F+5+7869D

There are lots of plain wood toy boxes -- I saw some on JCPenny.com (I think there's free shipping right now) that look like real pieces of furniture. They make nice seating benches when closed.

I also think I saw some at Big Lots -- I'm going back there tomorrow, I'll post if I see them.

We have something similar to what Nancy suggested but from Target, in the kids' room/organization area. It was pretty inexpensive (far less than the Kidcraft or PBK sets) and the cubes are very sturdy canvas. They fold flat and pop up. Basically PBK knockoffs.

They work well for bigger toys like stuffed animals and dolls.

Then we have a plain wooden folding bookshelf that holds books on the bottom, blocks in the middle and puzzles and games on top.

Dishes and food are stored in her play kitchen, which we chose partially because it did not look terrible in our living room. lol.

With all that said, I really like the Container store bin you listed. Just remember you'll need something else for toys with small pieces or else it will get dumped out *every* time DD plays. ;)

We have a really small place, and DD's play area is - well, our living room. I'm looking for a toybox that will work in our space as well as hold her stuff. It doesn't have to be huge or fancy, but something not too plasticky or screaming "kid's playroom" would be nice!

I like this one from the Container Store: http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?CATID=77427&PRODID=10013306

I would appreciate any other suggestions - thanks!

I have this in my living room:

http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product.jhtml?PRODID=10015492&CATID=72586&searchId=6509456&itemIndex=60

I am really happy with it. I have the large and it can hold a lot. They have other patterns, too.

I have seen these IRL and they are nice too:

Also comes in other colors. These two products are made by the same company.
