I want to get DD (2.5) a couple new Christmas books so please post your favorites. We just have 2 or 3 "lift the flap" type Christmas books so I definitely want to start building up a bigger stash.

TIA!

I was waiting for this question to come up. Here is a thread I posted in extensively last year:

We are not Christian so our favorites are secular (with perhaps a minor reference to Jesus):

Snowmen at Christmas
The Shortest Day: Celebrating the Winter Solstice
Winter Is the Warmest Season
The Christmas Hat
You Are My Miracle

ETA: Oh, also, DD really does not like Santa *at all* so none of these include a reference to him either, except for the Snowman Santa. LOL

"Bear Stays Up for Christmas"

I love the Bear books...probably more than ds. :)

http://www.amazon.com/Bear-Stays-Christmas-Karma-Wilson/dp/0689852789/sr=8-1/qid=1165026263/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-4654943-9828717?ie=UTF8&s=books

This one makes me laugh but at 3.5yo last year ds didn't quite get it yet. Maybe this year. It's "The Night Before the Night Before Christmas". If you find yourself at the bookstore at least read it. It should make you smile.

I was also going to suggest "Bear Stays Up for Christmas." It is my favorite! The Bear books are GREAT!

We also picked up "Christmas Countdown" by Karen Katz and DD is really enjoying it too!

Thanks for this recommendation...DS loves Bear Snores On and Bear Wants More, but we don't have the Christmas book yet. I'll add it to our list :)

The Donkey's Christmas Song by Nancy Tafuri.
It's dd's favorite too, we've been reading it almost daily since June.

Matthew's new favorite is Who Will Help Santa This Year? by Jerry Pallotta. It is about Santa looking for someone to help him make the toys. He tries dragons, fairies, Bigfoot, mummies, leprechauns, garden gnomes, mermaids, aliens, unicorns and wizards. Elves come looking for work and fit the bill. Matthew gets such a kick out of the illustrations!

Oh that was another one I was looking at...as part of Mari's "Santa therapy" LOL

We picked up the Bear one today and already read it twice! It's a keeper!

Merry Christmas Big Hungry Bear is another good one. It's about the mouse and bear from "The little mouse, the big hungry bear and the red ripe strawberry".

The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey is still one of my favorites.

The only Christmas book we have so far is a Sandra Boynton book called "Bob." LOL. It's really cute.

Alek got some books called Razzle Dazzle, where there are shiny parts on the books -- and he likes them a lot. There are also Halloween versions.

Here it is on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/yzhe3f

My son (2yr3mo) LOVES this book:

We've been checking out a lot of Christmas books recently from the library and I think those are our two favorites.

I remember reading this book when I was in the 4th grade. It is still one of mine and my children's favorites:

Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree by Robert Barry.

It is an adorable story!

Also, Room for a little one by Martin Waddell

Can't find this book listed on Barnes and Noble! It sounds really cute!

I did see the author has another book called, "Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?"

This book looks fun too! :)

This doesn't happen to include Polar Express, does it? I have something to return to B+N tomorrow and would love to get this for Brooks!
