View Full Version : Desperately Seeking Rocket Ship
Okay, so I explained to DS that Santa will be bringing him one special gift on Christmas and now all he wants Santa to bring is a rocket ship. I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find a rocket ship (let alone one appropriate for a 3-4 year old). Can anyone think of one? or ideas of where to look? THANKS!!!

Holli!
You rock! You always amaze me with the cool toys, etc. you find...once again I'm amazed! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all these links - each one I opened surprised me wonderfully - it'll be hard to pick one (although I think I'm going to try to recreate the cardboard-type rocketship playspace myself)!!
Also, I'm not sure you have any updates on Liam's SC, but I just wanted to tell you again that you are in my thoughts during this time...how scary.
Thanks again, Jess
Mary,
Thanks a bunch - this seems like a cool store! I knew I could count on my super shopping BBB ladies to help me find these cool spots! Thanks again!

Here is another option-
the Pottery Barn Kids playhouse rocket ship. There are a couple of postings on ebay for it. I have it and it is really cute, and in theory you can buy other covers (there is a cute girl playhouse cover, a schoolhouse, a cabin, maybe others). It is $130 shipped from this seller, or you can call around to pottery barn outlet stores to see if they have it in stock. They will ship from the outlets and it would probably be less expensive (for example, I bought just the cover for $35, plus shipping and tax). Good luck!

My guy is a huge space and robot kid.
He loves this:

We also have a diecast little space shuttle, and he makes everything into spaceships. you could also look at the action figure aisles at TRU, there are Star Wars spaceships, etc. Not that classic rocket shape, though, don't know how important that is to him.
Tarah -
Your son's rocket ship ROCKS! DS would LOVE that - thanks!
Thanks - that is very cute! You got a great deal - I'll have to check around! Thanks!

We made a felt one for DD -- it was the easiest felt thing I did. I still need to add orange ribbon for flames, but that's the only thing she thinks it's missing. I cut 3 rocket shapes (with the fins attached) from felt and sewed them together along the body lines (so the fins are loose). Then I hand-sewed a rounded triangular bottom to two sides and cut a slit up the third to be a door. I think it needs portholes (I'll either glue them on or draw them on, but if you were really into it you could sew in clear vinyl ones) and DD insists it's missing flames. I have some ribbon that's shaded yellow to red that I'll use for flames (cut strips, cross them, hand-sew to middle of bottom -- if I'd done them to start with I'd machine-sew them on).
Ours theoretically goes with a felt-and-pipecleaner alien and its dog, but usually other things (like playmobil people) ride in it.

I totally agree! I think Tarah's suggestion wins!! That's cool!
My DD is more of a biology than space nut. I could use a crawl-through body playhut! lol

Wow!! That sounds so cool! I'd love to see a picture if you have one...
