Help me choose a cash register...

I've narrowed it down to two but I just can't decide.

Teaching cash register by Learning Resources :

I'm leaning towards the teaching register but wanted to know - does the scanner register or display a price each time an item is scanned? Does the register keep track of the total?

It does display a price and it keeps track of the total. You can also input your own number but then you can't scan. DS prefers to scan.

I had the same two in mind for DS for this Christmas and decided on the Learning Resources one. I had a hard time deciding but I was afraid the mic on the Youniverse would drive me crazy (loud kid + sleeping baby.) DS really liked the Learning Resources register at our local toy store.

I like the Learning Resources one. No scan but that's ok. I wonder if the other one will scan all kinds of barcodes...

I just saw the silver/purple on IRL today for the first time and I think I like the one from Learning Resources better.

The silver one was on sale for $25 at Marshall's YMMV.

We have two of the LR model (because our kids fought over it so much) and it is terrific. They haven't even started with the educational features, they just like to play with it for now.
