My daugher is 9 months old and my mother in law is keeps bugging me about what toys she should buy her. I have told her a few times that she has enough toys and suggested that she start a college account for her but she insists on buying toys!!! does anyone have any good suggestions? I would prefer creative well made toys (that prefereably don't talk/play too much music). Any help would be appreciated. THanks in advance.

an activity cube would be good...

there are cheaper ones but i wanted to find one that didn't make noise!

anythign she can pull up on as she is probably practicing pulling up and cruising right now (unless she's already mastered this!).

games with balls like the roll arounds...the drop and roar dinosaur is really cool...

Send her to oompa.com. She really can't go wrong there and they have toys broken down by ages. Plus they don't have anything with batteries or character themes!

I just ordered this one from OSA:

I was going to get the Parent's cube (that you posted), but I kind of liked that this one was on wheels, so that DD can sort of cruise with it, but it won't move super fast, or come out from under her. I know she'll love it now, and I can see her playing with it when she's older, too. (Haven't received it yet, so this isn't a full review or anything)

If she has plenty of stuff to play with now, why don't you suggest your MIL buy her some things she can grow into later- puzzles, sorters, stacking cups, etc. That way your MIL can buy her toys, and you will have things to go to when she seems to be outgrowing the things she likes to play with now.

Just a thought!

ds has the drop and roar dinosour. he liked it b/c it played music when you put ball in it. but he just recently started to really play with it himself. he couldn't until now.

if you don't need anything for now, how about toys for the summer that you can take out into the yard. or a ride on toy. we have so much stuff that is what i am doing. things for the future (like a pp stated)

eta: do you have a wagon?? i just read something in the bargains board about one being shipped??? ds loves the wagon

Safety Locks - and someone to install them? =)
