DS is not quite 3...for his 2nd birthday I bought him a remote controlled car which worked initially, but has continued to have problems since. I want to get him a new one since when he comes across it (like today when he saw one in a book he went to get it) and it doesn't work properly. Not sure if it was defective to begin with or if it got knocked around and something inside broke. DH did open it up once and said something wasn't connecting properly...he fixed it, but it didn't last long before it wasn't working again.

So....what remote controlled cars do you like and have had good success with? Any to avoid?

I can't locate the one we have to provide a link...it was bought at an independent toy store and had a name like "my first remote car" or something like that and specifically designed for younger kids (simple 2 button remote).

These are a few I'm currently considering:

We have the Parents Magazine Play + Learn r/c car. I find it really annoying because it makes a really loud noise, and that actually scared DD when she was younger. I was actually thinking of getting a different one.
