Kitchen set for 1 year old's b-day?

Will my dd be too young at one to really use a kitchen set-I was going to ask my mom for it for her b-day.

I thought so... my DD will be 1 in January. I thought it would be perfect for next year....then today..... I went to mall with a friend and her 16 month daughter. Her daughter got out of her stroller in PBK to push a baby stroller. My DD pitched a fit so I let her out. She went right over to the sink and put dishes in it!!!! I was floored!!!! Now I am rethinking things--will she be "really" ready for it before next Christmas/Birthday ? Maybe it will have to come on her 1/2 birthday!!!

My DS is 17 months- at just under 14 months I started playing tennis where they had a kitchen in the nursery--he LOVED it from the moment he saw it- still plays in it every week! Theirs is a STep 2 kitchen- the smallest one they make. I ended up ordering him a larger kitchen for Christmas and I think he will love it. Definitely a great 1/2 b day idea too!
